rad/fans question with turbo

was researching but couldn’t find too much… i want to run a t3/t4 turbo… and i have seen the MINIMAL clearance… does any one have pics of the clearance with the rad/ fan? and if not whats the best way to set this up?
thanks guys?

two pusher fans and a full length rad

12" pusher, one works for me (so far ) but 2 will fit if you’ve removed the A/C equipment.

Is that a FAL fan? How do you wire them things up anyways?

hasn’t this topic be gone over like 5458489645641694 times

you can always hack the plug off your factory fan or buy a new plug thru acura… and plug it directly into the harness as far as i know…everything will continue running it like its the regular fan

Yes its a FAL. It came with a plug so I cut the plug off my stock fan, soldered it to the plug that came with it and have me a harness (so I didn’t need to cut anything on the car or on the fan itself).

There are only 2 wires, you cant figure it out?!? Black - Black & Blue - Blue.

Yes I know how to wire it up. I was just wondering (since I’ve heard this from various people) if there was an auxilury switch that you switch on when you want it on or if you hook it up to your stock rad fan harness… which I guess you do.

Thanks.

The fan I got was a ‘12’’ Black Electric fan reversible w/o controls’ so I guess there is one with controls also. I may add a second 10" or 12" on a aux switch as it the weather gets hotter, but so far my engine temps are good.

thanks guys for the help… just wanted to get th info on what you guys did and see a couple pics. chunk and xenocron… where did you guys get the fans? also maybe e-mail me what your engine setups are. i want to get a general idea and get the money up that way im not half way through everything and in a hole for the money thanks again guys

also whats is the best boost to run for a daily driver?

im using one 12" permacool fan. I ordered it from jegs. Havent had any cooling issues yet. Im running stock B18A on 11psi

My entire setup is here, including links to where I bought most stuff.

IMO 7-10 psi is pretty good for a daily. I can humiliate alot of “fast” cars on 7psi (SRT-4, Mustangs, Lightnings, etc).

here’s what I had to do, I eventually had to give up one of the 10" fans for 1 12" and 1 10" and these are PERMA-COOL. they work great and are alot cheaper than FAL, and SPA.

and are alot cheaper than FAL, and SPA.

How much? my 12" FAL was only $80. That seemed pretty cheap to me. Oh and how much air does the PERMA-COOL move? One 12" FAL is rated at 1050 Cu. Ft./Min with only a 9 AMP draw. Oh and its reversible.

:hump:

Dang for 1 12"? I paid less for these 2 10" fans TOGEHTER that move 1250cfm at 6.8 amps each $30. and my now 12" moves 1200cfm at 6.0 amps. all together I’m getting a total of 2450cfm between the 2 of them. 1 12" 1 10" . and the fans that I have are reversible.

with just that 1 12" fan, I don’t think your getting enough cooling. even though your car doesn’t overheat, read the turbo guide on cooling. I remember it saying 2000 cfm minimum.

check this out

I have 2 10" from some guy on Ebay…$45 each. I have one hooked to the fan relay, stock like. The other I have mounted to a manual switch in case I need to turn it on or if I get stuck in traffic.

With a full length rad…you have more than enough cooling.

Wow those perma-cools are nice, If I get another one it will be one of those.

All of the Perma-cool fans I’ve seen that you can buy (off of Ebay, didn’t find what I was looking for on there) were more expensive than the FALs. I understand they move more air and I’m going with the Perma-cools but you said they were “alot cheaper”?

Where did you buy yours for $30? This 1 12’’ I’m looking at is $83 new.

i got 2 12 inch fans that i got from autozone when i usto work there

yeah, new there still cheaper for the 12" than the fal and spal, I found one on Ebay for $20 as of right now. check it out. I got mine on ebay. they have everything including replacement motors that can be replaced if need be, I didn’t have any problems with mine, and they work great.
