Well about a 2 weeks ago my radaitor started to leak fluid out the bottom of my Radaitor so i quit driving my teg and parked it. i order a fluidyne radiator so it just came today. well i was waiting for my radiator to show up i took off my front end to take of my power steering, some of my wirring that was for my ac that i dont have anymore. i end up taking all my Incooler piping and intercooler off too. well i put everything back to gether and well i went to put in my radiator filled with fluid and went to start it and my car is idle is very low between 600-400 rpm and blowing out white smoke dunno why its doing that cuz before i parked it was running fine never over heated on me
so if some one can give me some ideas on what to do then that would help…
did you bleed the system, I think low idle after doing a rad. swap is caused by air in the system
yeah i did that already but i think there might be more in there, or i was told that it could be my head gasket, water pump any one know what else i can do?? i already drain the fluid again to tey to start over…
The white smoke could mean a blown head gasket. Is it overheating at all?
yeah if it were a headgasket or a water pump i think it would overheat more than it would give you a funky idle, the white smoke could be a head gasket but if that were the case you would be overheating and losing lots of coolant, is the coolant level about the same or is it losing coolant
try this, run the car with the rad. cap off, let it idle for a while, 5 mins or so, long enough for the car to warm and up and fans to kick on, then the thermo stat should open letting the fluid cycle through the system then, if there are any bubbles, it will get out then and you can top off the fluid and that should fix it
Are you sure the whtie smoke isn’t jsut condensation from the exhaust?
Air in the cooling system would result in overheating as well since it prevents the coolant from circulating. And a blown head gasket can cause idle problems due to vacuum leakage.
But I have done some internet searches on this topic and it seems that air in the cooling system can affect your idle (causes the coolant temp. sensor to give a false reading). So bleed it again and see what happens. I agree with clemsonteg; make sure you run it until the thermostat opens. Turn the heater on too so you can work any air out of the heater core.
If that doesn’t work, do a compression test to check for a blown head gasket. Check the oil too. Good luck!
couldnt have said it better myself!
Funny, same thing happened to me. Have you driven the car much since you replaced the radiator?? When I replaced mine my car ran fine before I parked it and 2 months later I finally changed the radiator. When I started the car up to let it warm up for the first time since I parked it I noticed white smoke coming out my exhaust. I was like :wtf: , thinking I had a blown headgasket or something. Well Ive been driving for the pat 2 months and no problems whatsoever. The white smoke went away after about a day or 2 of driving. I dont know what the hell caused it or made it go away but its gone and thats all I care about. Try driving it for a couple days and see if it ‘magicaly’ dissapears. Mine did.
The white smoke is a bit of a mystery. If it goes away after the car warms up then it’s likely condensation. The smoke caused by a blown head gasket is usually thick, and has the smell of coolant to it.
thank you all for your input.
but here is where i am at now. i all the airbubles out i think i got my fluid to come out with a nice stream to it. well i got it started yesterday and i was running really rich black smoke like no other… well i ended up turing my fuel settings down on my VAFC-2 back to stock. i changed out my plugs today and i went to start it and i started up fine but the problem is now that when is warms up it wont idle… teh rev go down to 400-500 and wants to die so i keep giving it gas so it wont die. but when i dirve it it seems fine until i come to a complete stop and i have to give it gas… but when i got home i went to the senor mode on vafc and its 6 in and 6 out but i can give it more then car idles fine but when i give it gas it wont do anything an dies with the check engine light on so then i put it back to 6 in and 6 out and check engine light goes off so now im stuck dunno what to do i think im still running really rich duw to the fact of the black smoke… so anyone out there now whats going on now ?? could it be my timming ?? dose taking off Power Sterring have any affect to this ??
well guys im a fuck up fixed it… didnt know that i was only ruuning 2 check vavles and i had 3 in there so now its all good fixed boost 7psi now :jerkoff:
