Removing footrest

Does it just pop out?? or do I have to get behind the fender guard and remove a bolt or something? cause it sure seems to be in there good enough

What you’re refering to is the “Dead Pedal.” You don’t have to go under the car to take it out.

The part of the pedal that has the tread on it actually pops out. You’ve got to get a knife in or something in there and pop it out. It may be kinda hard and you might second guess using more force, but trust me, its a pop out kinda thing, there is nothing else holding it on.

Once the face of the dead pedal is off, you’ll see a pair of nuts on that hold it down ontop of some really long bolts. You’re going to need a very deep socket.

Hope that helps.

Hey thanks a LOT. You’re right, I wouldn’t have seen that the tread pops off in a lifetime, since it looks like one piece.

Glad to help. I had to break mine to figure out how to do it. :frowning:

Wait a minute…I figured that out a long time ago because the pedal was loose. So I popped off the cover and attempted to tighten the bolts. They tightened a little but then I could feel that the other side(in the wheel well?) was turning as I tightened. So I looked in the well and removed the plastic trim. AHA! There is one nut that attaches to the upper bolt in the dead pedal. But where is the nut for the lower bolt?? I tried and tried to locate it and finally gave up. Have you guys found this mystery nut in the wheel well?

The bolts are welded to the frame. The top bolt may have a head that spins on the other side of the fendr, but I’m pretty sure the bottom one is welded. On my car, both bolts are welded on there, cause when I broke the bolts, the heads were still attached to the fender and you could see how they were “one with the fender.”

I’m going to have use long bolts like what it sounds like you have to remount my dead pedal.
