i just used hot water and some regular bleach :bowthank:
i just did my bad set of 90-91 db1 tails…just bleach, let sit in 3 different position to get the WHOLE light about 12hrs each…didn’t take gasket or anything off…
now i fucked up my JDM 90-91 tails by trying to heat up the plastic and get to the freaking silicone…so gay…i used a heat gun too…may just bake them if i can do that correctly, otherwise i’m slapping some silicone back under the plastic and C-clamping the light & just puring bleach into them…pretty pissed…
i have 4 90-91 tail lights and tried to bleach all 4. only 2 came out clean while the other 2 still are a bit pinkish. the gay thing is that the ones that came out clean were both the driver side tail lights. i guess i’m gonna rebleach the passenger ones again today and see if i get better results.
dude, go to walmart in milpitas. they got dat purple stuff!
bleach works just fine, i guess don’t use that cheap shit! use non-diluted bleach & let it sit for about 8 hours & i guarantee it will dye the pink lines white…so maybe you’re adding water to your bleach, maybe your using cheap bleach, or mabe you’re not letting it sit long enough…
im guessing i didn’t leave them soaking long enough. i just don’t get why the driver side tail lights turned white so fast.
paint application was maybe applied different/stronger/more…you never know with that stuff LOL & you have to figure a different amount of wear too…so who knows
yeah who knows. thanks for the help though. the lights are soaking right now. hopefully when i wake up, they’ll be white.
sit for 8 hours?? wtf, that purple stuff works with the first swoosh!
I think sometimes it has to do with how much the car sat out in the sun compared to a garaged car. More sun baked tail lights would probably turn white easier. But I don’t know why one side more than the other. Mine both turned white really easily. They were tail lights that a car sat out side, lenses were kinda dull looking too so I wet santed them down and clear coated them
lol dang alot of u guys let it sit forever haha i just used boiling water and some bleach let it sit for mabe 3-5 mins swooshed it around and repeated one more time and done
JDM1nt2B-
valid point
but anyways…I left them in there so long because i put bleech in them at night, then fell alseep…as easy as that. So 8 hours worked just fine, since I was in no hurry
how about this, use some purple stuff, get it done in mins
sleep and let it dry, when u wake up. u can slap em on.
yeah the driver sides finished within 15 minutes thats why i still don’t understand why the passengers are still a bit pinkish.
i used the purple stuff…shake it around for about 3 minutes and presto!
did the same job with the Super Clean. Each light came out very clean. TO help the draining of the water, I drilled a hole from the bottom end where it curves.
^^ Damn looks awesome! About drilling holes in the housing… wouldn’t condensation get in there and cloud up your lights? I hope you sealed the holes back up with some sealant.

where did u get that “HONDA” badge??
Not only will the tails leak, you will get a ton of water in your trunk and it may cause things to rust out. Just not a good idea.
