Okay. Quick question. I normally coast along the highway at about 70 or so. Gotta keep them speeding tickets down. Or say even 75-80. On the vtec ECU… Im considering reprogramming to have the vtec solenoid kick in at 4400… But… Will i be coasting on the free over 4400? I dont want to be doing that! Please help.
Buy a VTEC Controller!
on a VTEC tranny…its very possible to be over 4400…the gear ratios vary slightly, but i know im right around there at those speeds
On an ys1 tranny the rpm is about 4k @ 80mph…it will prolly waste more gas if vtec is constantly activated on the freeway. If u r really worried about vtec coming on all the time just hook up a toggle switch to it.![]()
acually i dont think the rpm will matter, i think that even if ur int he vtech rpm activation range, its doesnt come on unless u have a certain percent throttle, ie getting on the gas hard.

My GSR with a YS1 tranny does 4500 rpm at 80 mph
