RHEngineering Clutch Kit and Flywheel

RHEngineering Street Clutch Kit and Flywheel

Pressure plate, street clutch disc, and aluminum flywheel

I bought this kit from RHEngineering on chance and hope that it was a going to be a quality kit. The owner, Ryan Holtkamp, answered all my questions and I thought it sounded good. He said his clutch was comparable to the ACT clutch kit and can hold up to 242 ft. lbs of torque on the street disc (300 ft. lbs torque on his 6-puck disc). The flywheel is aluminum weighing at 8.5 lbs, manufactured by AASCO, yet another company I didn’t know.

The clutch kit came pretty quick by FedEx and it looked very reliable. The flywheel was nice and shiny…and light. I could even see my reflection! j/k The clutch disc was lined with copper fibers for more friction. I got the clutch kit installed today and I got my car back about an hour ago.

The first thing I noticed is that the car vibrated a little more than usual. I’m not sure if that is normal (I hope it is). The next thing was how stiffer it felt when I pressed the clutch pedal down. I thought that was normal because of the new pressure plate. I almost stalled the car because 1) I wasn’t used to it and 2) the engagement is not as smooth but it is not TOO bad than compared to OEM. I kinda got embaressed :tsk:

On a test drive, I noticed that the revs drop and rise quicker. It’s a very noticable amount, not just a small amount. The acceleration is great and so is the clutch feel. The clutch engagement feels smooth and strong while shifting through the gears, blasting it at wide-open throttle. I think they both go great together and greatly improving your overall driving performance. In my opinion, the RHEngineering clutch and AASCO flywheel are very well worth the money. It cost me $535 shipped to my door for the pressure plate, pilot bearing, clutch disc, and flywheel. RHEngineering has applications for 90+ Acura’s and Honda’s B-series engines. Their email is rhmotorsports@hotmail.com.

RHEngineering rocks!

Edit: After driving around town, esp. on the highways, the clutch grabs really great. I’ve gotten a little more used to how it feels and it can engage pretty darn smooth. The flywheel makes the engine feel a lot more powerful when VTEC kicks in. Love that acceleration.

You did break it in right man? It sounds nice

Stew

Break it in? What is a proper break in? I haven’t driven it hard or anything…just regular driving on the highway is all I’ve been doing. (just a couple high rev shifts but it’s not like I dropped the clutch any and chirpped any gears).

Edit: I’m a retard. 450-500 miles of regular stop and go driving before applying full engine power. Good thing I’ve only done that once. :stuck_out_tongue:

what web sit did you get the cluch and fly wheel off of? might be intrested in picking one up sometime.

I found him out surfing around on eBay. I’m not sure if they have a website up yet but just email Ryan at rhmotorsports@hotmail.com. He’s a kick ass guy and he’ll get you what you need.

UPDATE on the review It’s been like the 3rd day I’ve been driving around on the clutch and flywheel. The clutch seems it’s a little smoother now I guess from the “breaking in.” Everything’s been going real good. I can’t wait until break-in period is over HEHEHE
