I need to get my alternator replaced. I have negative mechanical skill and there is no way I can do it myself. I called a couple places and I wanted to see what you guys thought about the prices.
Dealer: $609 (Parts and Labor)
Dealership Alternative $440 (P and L)
Cal’s Auto Electric $200 (P and L)
I not sure where I should go to get this done. Any general ideas? Also, does anyone in the Houston area have any recomendations? TIA
As long as they are reputable shops and are installing OEM Honda parts, you should be good to go. That $200 sounds a bit cheap though and you might fall victim the old adage “You get what you pay for” if you know what I mean…
I got mine done for $250 Canadian including parts/labour/taxes. The alternator came out to $165 Canadian, and the rest was labour. If you want to do it yourself, you’ll most likely work from the bottom of the car. And there is a good chance you’ll be removing axles or what not to gain access. However, my mechanic did it with just removing a cover plate.
