well i’ve had a lot of hesitation lately, and thought it was just a throttle-body problem, but today i looked to see if i was getitng sparks from all 4 cylinders, and when i removed the plug from the
1 2 3* 4 starred cylinder, the engine did not drop as if a plug had been removed. i removed the plugs from all the other cylinders, and i felt the drop.
so i’m gonna do some common maintenance to see if i can fix the problem:
replace the plug
replace the wire
change the oil from 20w50 (could this cause any sort of problems btw?)
Sorry I couldn’t understand your post. Did you check for spark on all 4 plugs? I had bad hesitation once and it turned out to be a bad O2 sensor. check your ECU for error codes! It could be a few different things like the igniter, cap rotor, distributer or O2 sensor. Post more details
you might want to use 10W30 weight oil.
how exactly do u check the ECU for error codes
sorry about the ambiguity of the post…
but yeah, i checked for spark on all four cylinders, and when i took the wire out of the 3rd cylinder (ie 1 2 3 4) the car didn’t hesitate as if I had removed a plug…
i’m not getting a check engine, will my ECU still be sending me signals? i’ll check it tomorrow, i just pull up the carpet from the passenger side, check the lights slow blink, then the quick blink…
i assume it’s an electrical problem, i had my friend check it out and he said that it is probably electrical because there is not a miss throughout the whole power band…
to help you get a better idea of the problem, here is my scenario…
i was racing with my friend the other day; i downshift to 3rd, pull to like 6,750, then i feel this slight bump, i assume it wasn’t the rev-limiter since i wasn’t up to 7,250 yet, so then after that i have this constant misfire and backfire combination. i’ve tried adjusted the throttle body, and other such things but to no avail…
hopefully you can help me out. i might buy an MSD or Crane ignitions system, would this be a better solution than to just buy more stock parts?
thanks
ohhh i had a misshift and blew up a wire same problems
it would hesitate then kick in, dont buy anything but oem or ngk w00t
i replaced the one wire, and its still doing it… should i buy 4 new wires?
i think you bent a valve, same thing happened to me. how does your car drive? kind of bogs? the check engine light did not go off when i bent a few valves. i wouldn’t waste anymore money on plugs and wires cuz i doubt that is the problem. It most likely is your motor. I felt the same way when it happened to me, denial. take a look inside, or have someone do it for you. this might be the chance for a b18c swap
hey, well i guess sorry to dissapoint everyone, but i’m excited…
i went to discount auto parts today and picked up a bosch platinum 2 for $4, changed out my BURNT plug, and poof, good as new
i guess i just blew a plug
hmm, i thought you said you already tried chaning the plug, oh well, good for you
yeah, this is just a reminder for those diagnosing their car…
make sure that you always try the simple stuff, because you’ll be kicking yourself for swapping your engine for a lousy spark plug
