Small Problem Starting?

I just finished the turbo install. Everything runs fine, car idles nice. The only problem is that whenever I am doing a cold start, I have to blip the throttle before it cranks. After the car is warmed up to operating temp, and then I try to crank it, it does fine. The only time I have to do this is when the the car is not fully warmed up. I have 450’s and a Walbro 255lph high pressure. I can also smell gas fumes a little, would this be from running rich on the basemap? THanks,
Chris

bump

i havent went turbo yet and i have to blip the gas a little sometimes when i go to start it…it doesnt seem like a big problem…just my .02

its completely normal. if you dont touch the gas it has to crank for about 5 seconds right?

its a combo between the walbro and the larger injectors. right now im running 440cc injectors but stock pump and it cranks about 5 times before it starts

Yes, if I don’t blip the throttle I can just let it turn over for like 4-5 sec. and it cranks fine. So this is normal with the new pump and injectors? Thanks
Chris

when I used to run the AFC/chipped ecu. it started no problem with walbro 255 and DSM 250’s. but sicne I’ve changed to a real ems, I have to do that too on cold starts. otherwise it’ll jsut crank for a while so I add soem gas and vroom… It only happens on codls tarts. after the first drive. I’m good tos tart it no problem throughout the day(unless I let it sit for half the day again of coruse)

i see the letting it crank for a few seconds as a better thing… the slower cranking gets the oil going before the thing idles up for cold start… wouldnt this help with a little less wear over a long period of time?

its completely normal. im having the same thing on my ls with uberdata chipped/tuned ecu and rc 440’s and stock fuel pump. i actually think my last car took a few more cranks, like 7ish if i didnt pump the gas due to the walbro 255. i guess this is why i havent installed my walbro yet, too lazy to pump the gas and run below 1/4 tank

Eh…you might want to richen up the idle area slightly, it shouldn’t have to turn over more than twice really to start up.

Do you know what kind of AFRs you are get just starting from a Cold Engine?
