that B17 head…what valvetrain/cams can be used on it? like generally any VTEC aftermarket or even OEM setup can be used in it?
You can run any b series vtec cam in any b series vtec head… OEM, Toda, Skunk2, Rocket, Crane…etc…

Mike, the flywheel adds quite a bit of weight and size to the package, I’m getting a quote from USPS of almost $27 to ship. However, I might be able to squeeze everything into a flat rate box, if that’s the case then shipping would come down to $17 - I can check tonight to see. I found an ITR swap for what seemed like a good price from the brother of a well known Honda racer. Looked a little dirty but I’m not afraid of cleaning. When I got it home some of the parts were not what he said they were (clutch & flywheel). Pulled the trans apart and it was beat inside. He said it was fine but whoever put it together did it wrong, we almost couldn’t get the case apart. 3rd gear was unbelievably worn, no way it shifted smooth, shit, it may not have even stayed in gear. After seeing that I couldn’t be confident that the motor was clean or even had the internals he said it did. Well, it did have the right internals, but the cyl walls were smooth and likely had many many more miles than he told me it did - I had planned on just putting it in my car but now it’s going to need a full rebuild. Icing on the cake was when I tried to sell the intake manifold the buyer noticed a crack. I’m glad he did see it because I hadn’t noticed it at all and would have hated to accidentally sell a bad manifold. Basically what I thought was a great deal turned into a not so good deal plus a lot of headaches for me having to sell parts, some of which were not what I was told they were. Basically the cost and timeline of my swap have now doubled. At this point I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get back out on track this year or not, but whatever, I enjoy projects nearly as much as I do lapping, it’s just this wasn’t the original plan. Another thing slowing me down is that my garage has been very very lacking. I had planned on buying a house early this year but prices have gone up 20% in the past year and I’ve been priced out of the market. So, I’m stuck in my tiny single car garage which I’m currently doing a little remodeling in in order to have the capacity to tackle some of the projects I have planned. Haven’t even touched the car (other than pushing it in/out of the garage) since I had it towed home from the track earlier this year

Man that sucks, I’m sorry to hear about all that. It doesn’t sound whiny to me, when you buy something you expect it to be what you were told it is. Best of luck getting it together and out there driving again!
Exactly… It’s not whining when you were duped and misled. Sorry to hear of the headaches Colin. But at least you noticed all of this before swapping it in. Rest assured you’ll get it all squared away properly!
