Im going to attempt to put my tranny in my self,is there anything i should know before i go and make a mess? PLEASE HELP
if you’ve read the chilton and the haynes manual or the helms manual. There’s no particular trick to it, but you must read those first or you will be lost, and you will do it wrong.
Ahhh, I just did that yesterday… I agree that you should definately get the helms manual if you want to do this by yourself because it is not easy at all the first time. There are a lot of hidden bolts and stuff that you will need the manual for. You will also need the torque specs from the manual, other than that I would recommend that you get someone to help you lift the tranny onto the intermediate shaft. It is possible to do it yourself but it is a pain in the butt.

well, it’s not that bad of a job but just remember where all the bolts go. there’s really no trick to it but remembering where everything goes. it might help putting the bolts you take off in a sandwich bag and labeling it and get a service manual to help out. oh and dont forget to drain it cause when putting tranny back up some tranny fluid(motor oil) will spill out.
thankx for all the advice but there is one problem, i don’t have a manual, i will attempt to do this without a manual,i have no choice,one other thing,this will be my first time putting a tranny and clutch in a car, i know i need help but i’m broke i spent all my money on a 97 type-r with lsd, and converted to hydro, all i have left is about 5.00 to my name, can anybody email me with some diagrams, thankx
the manual is not there for the diagrams, although they help, you need to know the order of removal and installation and all the different things you’ll affect. Wait two weeks or whatever until you get paid and then buy a chilton or a haynes. I think my haynes was $17. Or go to a library, my library has the entire helms as well as dealers manuals for most cars.
