maybe there is some binding in the speedometer cable, may need to be greased up.
HTH
Doesn’t it only happen when you reach 50-60 or something?
This happens to my 91 Teg RS and it is just b/t the speeds of 10 and 25. Any thoughts???
My brothers needle stops working at 50-60 mph, he steps on the gas, but the needle stays at like 50! I had trouble conneting the speedo cable, could it be a bad connection? I thought either it would work, or not work at all.
actually happens betweeen 50 to 80, but while at a constant speed…
mine makes noise through the gauge cluster:gun:
Just take out the cable and regrease it. While its out if your cable is frayed, just replace it. The shealth and cable from acura is only like $25. Install is not to hard either.
Sorry that I don’t have a remedy, but once in a while mine gets stuck at 80mph even while decelerating. It slowly goes down but not at my actual speed. It finally drops to zero either after I’m totally stopped or after I start accelerating from a complete stop.
My thoughts are either the cable is loose or I need to regrease the cable. Any suggestions?
how do you regrease a speedo cable???

yeah… i would like to know also
To regrease the cable you’re gonna have to take off the gauge cluster and remove the speedo cable. once the cable is removed you grease the open end of the cable and grease the recieving end of the gauge cluster… My needle would shake at 15-25 mph, i followed some advice and used lithum grease… DO NOT USE LITHUM GREASE, i think that grease is to light. The fix was only temporary, i suggest using a slightly heavier grease. Also, it might be the cable at the tranny, but i have no experience on that, but i’m pretty sure it’s the same.
