Squealing while driving, reversing, turning...

I’m assuming it’s my brake pads?

Okay, as it stands right now, I KNOW for a fact my rotors are warped… because from today to about two months ago the car jerks back and forth while braking…

Now, I can hear CONSTANT squealing from the passenger front wheel… I’ve ran a search and came up with brake pads being the number one culprit… also, something about the shims touching the rotors???

I’m clueless, and VERY embarassed while driving now!

If brake pads are worn down, will they cause this? The noise is only when the car is moving (accelerating, braking, reverse)… please respond to this post if you need more information…

What’s wrong with my car?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Flap,

Find the suspected wheel, and turn it by hand. Check if you hear any scraping/squealing of some kind. From my experience, when I had this problem, it turned out to be the Brake pad retainer/spring. This sits in the inside part of the caliper and pushes down on the brake pads to make sure they don’t rattle. If they are broken, chances are they are scraping on your rotor causing the squeal.

My Helms is at work, when I get a hold of it, I’ll find the section with the picture in it.

Stand-by,

Oz

Flap,

Refer to page 19-5 in the brakes section of your Helms. In that page, look for the Pad Spring.

Oz

Thanks Oz, I’ll definately check that out this weekend.
