Hey guys-
I just did my front rotors and pads about 2 weeks ago, and now every once and awhile I am getting a squeeky sound out of them. It’s dependent on speed, it becomes more frequent with greater speed. Any idea what the heck this is? Its driving me nuts. I can get it to go away for a few seconds by tapping the brake pedal…any ideas?
Thanks
Jim
are they oem or after market brakes
when i got my car it had cheaper after makret brakes and make a whistling noise sometimes. i was told it was from using cheap after market brakes
somwtimes even with great pads it will still squeek, there jus breaking in. but you might have a holow sopt in your rotors that is allowing air to slip thru when driving, your shim could have loosened and it rubbing on the cap of the rotor, your hardware iside the top portion of the caliper is rubbing on the top of the rotor, could jus be dirty too… spray it down with a brake cleen product then check it out over the next couple of days. hope it helps.
yah, you should clean them with a little brake cleaner. sometimes you can get a little grease on your hands when you put the pads on, (transferring the grease to the pads). it causes your pads to ‘glaze’ over. it should go away after a couple sprays. if you took them back off, you’d see that they’re overly shiny.
A good trick we do is to remove the pads and file down the edges around the pad at around a 45 degree angle. This will get rid of any imperfections on the pad…Trust me, it works!!!![]()
