Stuck b/t whick turbo to go for. Experts advise please!!!

hey guys…my motor is almost back from the machin shop and as soon as i get it broken in i’;m going for my boooooost!!! heres the break down
MOTOR
b18b w/ aebs sleeves w/ a 84 mm bore
Weisco 84 mm slugs 8:8.1
Eagel H-beams rods
Cometic head gasket (.030)
stock crank
act clutch kit

HEAD
sticking w/ the LS but going for a 3 angle valve job w/ upgraded springs

TURBO
HOndata s200 pro. dyno tuned
38 mm wastgat
3" turbo exhaust
custom exhuast mani
skunk 2 IM
turbo xs bov rfl
oils ect

My goal is 350+ whp daily driven
I’m stuck b/t these 2 garret turbos. Please dont suggest any ball bearing or other style snails ect. I’m stuck on this t3/o4e but unsure what will fit my needs. like i said i want 350 whp and to be able to pull my 97 civic coupe across the 1/4 in a fair time yet i still want the car to be streetable
I was stuck on the t3/o4e 57 trim w/ .63 ar turbine
but was wondering if the t3/04e 60 trim w/ .63 ar turbine would be a better fit. I want it to be fun to drive on the street but not run out of steam on a long pull, but also not get tossed on the street b/c of too much lag :getsome:
what do ya’ll think?

how about a t3/t4 57 trim?

I would stick with a 57 trim but go with a .82AR for turbine housing. This will prevent the turbo from backing up and running out of breath up top. And you will not lose much spool time with your 84mm block. My $.02 .

.82 on a non ball bearing turbo is quite laggy. with a .63 he shoulda have a nice powerband.

gt30 or sc 61

He already said he doesn’t want BB or any other turbo.

Either T3/T04E 57 trim or 60 trim. I would say 60 trim.

sc61  I think that’s the last turbo he would want, if he wants a good powerband, most of those only hit around 5,000 and above!

.63 A/R is just fine, especially if it’s at the stock redline. I know of 2 ‘built’ VTEC motors up in the 9k RPM’s that use the .63 A/R 57 trim, so I don’t see any problems with that on your setup.

I’d start looking around your area for reputable P&P services aswell.

I have the t3/t4 57 trim and has alot of room for power to be made with this turbo. on the other hand the t3/t4 60 trim is my favorite. that thing packs a punch. theres a few guys out here running them that love them.

im partial to the 57 trim. im running one on 10-12 psi right now and its pretty nice. its a lil sluggish, but really comes alive after 5k rpms. you’ll be fine with the .63 turbine, especially if you are only revving to 7kish rpms. overall the flow difference between the 2 turbos is only a few lbs/min, and i think the 57 trim map is more suited daily driving. also, garrett rates this turbo to like 545 or 565 hp, so you wont be maxxing it out by any means

57 trim here

“da da da da daaa… I’m lovin it”

okay that was weak.

damn I can’t say that I don’t love my 57 trim too, and is very good daily driven.

thanks guys…i read up on some old mag articles to find some info on boosted LS’s. funny thing is i had to go to an isssue dating all the way back to 98’ to find a good one on built LS. They pulled out 297 whp but that was w/ 310 cc and a fmu. I think with my 660cc and fuel mgt i should be able to pull out some more.

but i was wondering could i obtain 300+ (primarily 320-350 whp) on
93 pump gas? like it may take me like 15 psi to get there but can i do that w/o spraying methanol, or shortening the life span of my motor? i though a built bottom end should be able to handle that.

A buddy of mine making 290whp w/15 psi on a cemented block sohc said i’d might have to spray methanol like him to run anything over 12 psi.
is that :bs: ?

like r u talking about water injection to cool down cylinder charge temps and so itll burn cooler… man last time i saw that was on a mustang and they had watter injection… old school. and that much wheel hp with a FMU is stupid… i bet it blew up cause it failed… thats to much… good luck listening to ur friend… umm so u r using fuel managment right??

sorry only saw the last post… cool setup try a different trim… but good job otherwise… use that launch controler to ur advantage…
build boost from using it cause on my civic it is impossible to build boost at partial throttle trying to launch… but with the S100 w/ launch controler option i can hammer it and launch control set at 3k then build about 5psi b4 i take off… help soo much…

not sure if anyone has advised you of this. but, ls heads only have 81mm combustion chambers… and since you have 84mm bore… at any rate, check into a P8R head. it came from b20z I believe and has 84 mm bore, just a thought.

i though i’d be alright w/ the ls head , even though on a 84 mm bored block :hmm:

again w/ the head work. What valves will do me justice. …I’m not planning on really taking the rev past 7500 but for insurance against mis shifts, safety ect what company and design should i look for?

Supertech valves and rocket springs and retainers
or
crower valves, springs and retainers
or
ferrea valves, crower or rocket spings and retainers

that’s for Ls head. there are more options for Vtec head.

In my opinion I think his motor will be able to handle horsepower 400+ because of his built block. I say go with the precision 60-1. His setup is almost like mine but I"m going for more hp.
