hey guys, for my summer project I want to put a new cylinder head into my car and i want it to be an ls/vtec b16a or b17a head. Which do you guys prefer? Also i will need to add wires for the vtec right how exactly is that done? If you guys could answer these questions it would be a big help!
b16a and b17a head are the exact same. get whichever you can get cheaper. which will most likely be a b16a one.
also, i recommend buying a whole b16a swap to start. You can use the head, intake manifold, ecu, tranny, clutch, distributor… everything but the block. This makes rounding up parts easy and makes sure you get all the parts you need.
do a search for ls/vtec, there is lots of info. oh, and make sure you understand that ls/vtec isn’t just as simple as swapping a head. If you want it done right you need to rebuild and strengthen your block. A basically stock ls/vtec that is reliable is going to cost you $2000-$3000. for that price you could build a poorman’s itr (you might even be able to do this cheaper). just make sure you consider all your options.
