Does anyone have one of these hoods? How do they fit? I know Fiber Image is supposed to be the best but they’re HIGH DOLLAR.
Any input would be appreciated!
I know that Fiber Image is good but I don’t think that they are the best. Fiber Image does not have a full frame under the hood.
Body Kits NW have a full CF frame under the hood but I have not seen one in person I have seen the Fiber Image in person.
i’ve personally seen one from www.jdmhondaparts.com (i’m not sure which of the 2 brands they carry though) and it was VERY nice. $400 picked up, $550 shipped. full frame under the hood, 5-layer fiberglass frame. the CF was also rolled over the edges, instead of cut, so it looks a lot better (higher quality).
what does it madder.
what does it madder if there is a frame or not. Have you seen the videos on fiberimages.com they drove over their hood with a car dropped a bowling ball and a racing tire. I will buy their hood. i know if some jealous bitch tries jumping on my ride the hood will come out on top.

This is not true. I just don’t want misinformation spreading around.
I also don’t want to get into a debate about how Japanese made cf hoods are of higher quality and better fit and finish than U.S. made ones… cost is a big concern as well. All I can really say is if you get a cf hood of ANY sort, get some hood pins/locks. I’ve heard way too many stories of hoods flying up mid-drive.
i would recommend hood locks. the extra 10-20 bucks they cost over just hood pins, is worth the replacement cost of your hood if someone has a socket with them when they see your hood and you only have pins holding it on. cheap insurance always gets a big thumbs up in my book.
fiberimages is the $hit…i’m gonna get rid of my vis hood and get a fiberimage
Doesn’t VIS distribute Sunny Stylin CF hoods? I’m like 90% sure.
i took out the thing about spoon. I actually heard that from a distributor in Connecticut. Could be true ryank. I understand your comment, and respect your opinion, but i still believe it.
i wANTED A cf hood and i saw this g2 with a carbon fiber images one and it still didnt look like it fit! i just cant see myself throing 500 bucks just for a hood! but dam they look good!
we need to get a groupbuy going, I have been Looking for a good CF hood for months now.
Previos member TroLL will tell you never to get a sunny styling hood. He had one of the first ones without the bottom frame and he lost his hood going on the freeway and took out his windshield and dented his roof. i don’t know how they still make them… But I’d stick to one with a frame on the bottom. And that thing where the car runs over the hood and the tire dropped on it. it just shows how flexible the thing is. That’s without the fiberglass frame on the bottom. Fiberglas won’t last to anthing like that. Imagine your hood bending up on the freeway and acting like a sail. Sure it will return to it’s old shape after it files off your car. I’ve had mine for quite some time with the fiberglass frame on the bottom. Drove a few times accidentally with the hood not completely latched on the freeway and luckily it didn’t do anything. Since then I’ve added hood locks and with those, the hood still likes to wobble a little now and then. And in long term… the hood kinda gets deformed… I only like it for the looks… daily driving it’s kinda scary to have… Member Mechanic can tell you the horror as well when someone pried his CF hood open. (not that hard to do)… enough of my rambling… good luck with your decisions…

if they do…then they suck because my hood is all f##ked up. it looks ok but doesn’t fit for $hit…miscut all over
are the fiber images carbon fiber hoods rounded off at the edges, or are they just cut?
Don’t know if this will concern anybody but, I work with carbon fiber flight control surfaces on F/A-18’s. One problem we get is de-lam. De-lamination, a chip or scratch can lead to de-lam. Water can get in there, and if you’re in a cold zone watch out. When the water freezes and expands it can spread apart the layers more.
And just a warning, if you’re ever in an accident and the hood gets f-ed up, watch out for the fibers, very very bad for your lungs. When a jet crashes or gets run into, we have to spray the fibers down with wax to contain them.
Strength to Weight ratio, I guess that’s why we pay $75,000 for a damn aileron!
I wonder if maybe, after installing hood locks, one should somehow seal the edges of the holes drilled?
Just some miscellaneous BS for you all. Laters
