I’d go three because A) the shocks are better B) I haven’t heard great things about skunk2 coilovers.

for autocrossing I would say definitely package #3. The adjustable struts are better and the springs will not break like some coilovers will under extreme circumstances. If just for cruisin and looking good, package #4. Drop it to your level.
but thats just my $.02

im not too fond of tokico SPRINGS…their abit on the crappy side IMO. and as far as sleeves “breaking”. the only possible way i think the skunk coilover SLEEVES will “break” is if the screws that hold them to the shock/strut assembly slips or loosens…but i’ve never heard of a coilover sleeve “breaking”.
ok, maybe breaking is not the right word. I have heard of coilovers just freezing up and not being able to adjust them. Maybe that is just on the cheaper ones, or maybe I am on crack. Either way I would think the spring rates on coilovers would not be as driver friendly as the spring rates of a good set of springs.
spring rates on the coil-overs are linear and the others are progerssive. The rates on the skunks and the fact that they are linear will make them “rougher” on the streets, but probably better on the track . . . depends what you want I guess.
oh yeah BTW, the coil-overs are adjustable so you can dial in height and more importantly corner weights! If you don’t get the corner weight sorted then you’re only using the coil-overs at 1/2 capacity ![]()
Steve
I hate to sound stupid, but what do you mean about corner weight?
read this . . . . ![]()

skunk2 coilovers are awesome. i got a set used and have been using them for a couple years now. so all total they’ve been on a car for over 3 yrs and are holding up great!
freezing up and not being able to adjust them? i’m guessing you read that BS post someone made awhile back. The coilovers WILL NOT freeze up. What can happen is dirt can get in the threads and make it difficult to turn the perches…this has nothing to do with the quality of the coilovers it only has to do with:
-your environment
-what you drive your car through
-how well you maintain your car
IMO coilovers rule! i’ll never go back to normal springs again.
I would stay away from the ebay cheapo ones tho. Who knows where the springs come from and what quality the sleeaves and other parts are made from … . . . I’d stick to Ground Control, or Skunk
nonsense:
Thanks, that was an interesting article. It makes me want to relocate my battery to the rear right corner. I think that will be my next project.
