Suspension Question

My friend has a '92 GS and there is an odd sound coming from the pass. front suspension. It has gradualy gotten worse during the past two months.

I am not a Honda/Acura guy so I need some help here. The car has 140K on it. Do you think it a bushing that is making the sounds or do you think it is more than that…like maybe the entire strut/spring needs replaced?

Can you guys point me to any good sites (other than this one  ) that I could get some info from?

Thanks!

It could be a variety of things. Be a little more specific with the sound. Is it a clunk? A constant rattling? or…ya know…something along the lines of that…

But our tegs are known for a squeak and clunk sound in the rear. I personally think it has something to do with the rear trailing arm.

My first guess would be bearing going bad or CV joint going bad, if it is clicking it is the CV joint.

It is more like a slight squeak whenever you hit a bump in the road. It is most def. not a clunk or rattling. It is also on the front pass. side not the rear. I was told that the car also seems to sag a bit in the front right too.

The car will also make the sound if you push down on the front end and make the car move up and down a bit.

sounds like a bad shock absorber–

FRONT SUSPENSION

If the car is sagging in the right front suspernsion, it’s most likely a bad spring. Check the spring for any cracks or any pieces that may have broken off. Like all Hondas, tegs are known for having spring problems…

I was thinking that it was the spring but wanted to see what you guys thought. If you haven’t already figured out I am a dubber and didn’t know if there was something that might be a chronic problem that I might overlook.

My friend is not looking to mod the car, just looking to get good replacement parts…or performace parts with a minimal drop.

Can anyone give me some sites and parts that I should look for?

I really appriciate the help.

Carl

It could be a spring or shock time for new suspension components??!!

If it is the spring you can get a set of H&R OE springs for about $175 only have a .75 drop and are only about %10 -15 stiffer than stock.

Any places you would recommend I look for prices?

If that question was directed at me;
This is a pretty good price $149. I have never delt with these people, but their site is pretty.

I think you will have to cut and paste that link. They also have Eibach, Progress and Tokico springs on that site.

If the springs were to be changed to say the H&R’s. Would new struts/shocks also be needed seeing the car has so many miles? Or could they hold off on struts/shocks for a bit until they get more money?

There are people on here who do it, and don’t seem to mind, but i’ve been in cars with springs/no shocks, and when the stock shocks go out in a year, it just sucks. Very bouncy. These were new Honda’s mind you, not one with 130,000.

It is my car that is sagging… Do you think that it could be a bad bushing or is it definitely a shock or spring? How would I tell if it were a shock that was going bad versus a spring or vice versa? And (since I am kind of short on money) if I only get springs like the ones with only a .75" drop, will this hurt anything other than the stock shocks since I am not buying new shocks at the same time? Thanks for the help!

IF IT IS SAGGING, DEFINATLY A SPRING. THESE THINGS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR SPING PROBLEMS. I HAD TO REPLACE ONE ON THE PASSINGER SIDE(FRONT END). MINE IS STARTING TO CLUNCK UP THERE AGAIN WHEN I GO OVER A BUMP. NOT A BUSHING OR A SHOCK.
