t3 super 60

I was wondering if anyone is running a t3 super 60 trim…if so how good is it…at what rpm does it reach full boost and does it have enough all the way to redline…i have a friend that is wanting to sell me one but i want to make sure it will be sufficient…also does the trim indicate anything in particular…i mean i know what it indicates but is there a way to say that if it has a larger trim it will do this and a smaller trim it will do that…thanks…by the way i have read the turbo guide at least 5 times and i love it

I do
Its VERY good
3000-4000 rpm depending on piping
yes, huffs all the way to redline

I dont have dyno numbers yet but I don’t get traction until third gear, and it pulls hard enough to reel in a stock STI untuned at 7psi.

you mean, if the IC piping is shorter from the turbo to the intake manifold it will spool faster? May sound like a common sense questions, but just curious, figured thats what you meant since the shorter the piping the better… right?

There are alot of factors in the charge pipes and the dowpipe/dumptube that will effect spooling. Search, there’s lots of info out there.

Just some basics to consider:
Charge pipe length, size, route (how many bends, etc)
Downpipe size, route, etc.
Dumptube size, route, will it vent to atmosphere or will it recirculate.
Exhaust restrictions etc.

i have a friend wanting to sell me one but im not sure if i should get it of a big 16g evoIII…i want it to spool at around 3000 and be good til redline…and the 16g will get me there i know…but a t3 is easier to find a manifold for…which do you guys think would be better?

are u beating the sti or not? how light is your car? did u dyno your car yet?

are u beating the sti or not?

We started from a dig so he had the advantage, at 50mph when I got traction and even through second gear I was pulling on him but didn’t pass him before he shut down. So he 'won" the race but I was gaining pretty quickly. I will be running one again soon.

how light is your car?

Don’t know, its an RS, full interior, no spare, no A/C, no PS - more details

did u dyno your car yet?

not yet, but soon

oh yeah i remember ur site, yeah i have almost the same turbo but got the 60trim. so nice i too have a friend with an sti, nice to know u were about to win him

The title of the thread is “t3 super 60”
and from the link I posted “Rebuilt T3 super 60 with .48 A/R Turbine Housing” :nana:

edit: I just saw your last post, just like being a wise-guy

will having that .48a/r turbine housing make it spool faster and if so is that on the exhaust or compressor side and where can i get one

Super 60 Trim = Compressor Trim
.48 A/R = Turbine Housing

You can get them all over, just make sure you get a remanufactured Garrett and not a knock off. I got mine at turbocalculator.com, it was the cheapest I could find it at the time ($360). It took them almost 2 months to ship it to me and I had to file a Paypal complaint. Don’t be suprised though if you get it someplace cheap (like I did) and it needs to be rebuilt in like 6 months. I’m kinda expecting that I’ll need to.

lol, i got mine from turbo calculator too, i also waited like 2 months before the paypal complaint. I got the 60 trim compressor with a .63 turbine exhaust, maybe it will pull different?

there is one on ebay right now for around $350, should i get it?

how much would a good price for this toy be?

Thats not gonna stay at $350 IMO with the ceramic BB upgrade. I wouldn’t be suprised if it goes for $600 or so. Just a guess though.

quick question about the ar ratios and the trims…i was reading the turbo guide (again) today and i saw something i had a question about…correct me if im wrong but for a decent turbo to spool fast but have good top end power i want one with a good size trim (like 60) and a small turbine ar ratio like .42 or .48 right…i really am working hard to figure this stuff out

Chunk…what are the measurements on your turbo…i know its a 60 trim and has a ar on the turbine side of .48…do you know what the ar is on the compressor side…thanks guys…yay boost!!!

well im saying because ls head dont flow good, thats why they always drop toward redline, so you can make a bit more power up there

i dont need too much top end because i dont plan on revving past the stock redline (6800) i think
