test pipe power

dan-- this is kind of off topic, but your JUN header, ( my friend’s lookin at a type r w/ this heaer ) is a 421 (one piece) Stainless STeel w/ a 2.5 collector…right? and it’s pirced around 1200? something like that… i dunno this guy’s tryin to sell my friend ( dont worry, he’s 30…did that just rhyme? he used to drive an m3, but then bought a house, and now i got him into acura’s…hehe .he drives a legend right now so it’ll be ok when he gets a ‘fast’ car now- …ooh…m3 power…drool )

ANYWAY- he’s tryin to buy this 97 type r for $22500 ( i think it’s overpriced ) w/ 72k, it’s got a zex flywheel, jun header, skunk2 coilover, apexi exhaust, and mugen sway bars…anyway…

here’s a pic of my underside of my cat and exhaust deal. I think it does a decent job. when i start makin real power ( when will that be…oh yea never! ) i’ll move on to some test pipe power.

The thing coming out first is where they mated the R header to the cat ( they did a bad job…it broke the first time then they had to reinsert a new piece of pipe…dammm hippies ) but it’s pretty decent for what i got it for. what do you think, better than that random tech crap? only thing i dont like is i cant unbolt anything, but then again i really dont need to for now. once march rolls around (bday) i’ll probobly upgrade to a 4-1 header and a test pipe / have them do flanges on my cat.

anyone have pics of their carsound cats or whatever? sorry this is so long! eek! later guys.

Hey DAY U IZ,

The reason you damage your exhaust valves with an exhaust manifold leak or short open header is all cams have some overlap. This means some exhaust gas gets sucked back into the combustion chamber during the engines intake stroke, revision. When you have a full exhaust system the revision is hot gas, no exhaust system or manifold leak means cold gas get sucked back through the exhaust valve. This cold gas comming into contact with he hot valve eventually warps the valve head because of the differences in temperature. The valve then leaks during combustion stroke and gradually the out rushing hot gas burns the valve, because the heat is concentrated at the leaking area of the valve.

Ahhh…makes perfect sence. Thanks.
