Thunder Hill 4/28…DNR

This past saturday I was registered for a road race event at Thunder Hill, but had to drop out due to braking problems in my sedan. The night before the event, heading up to Willow, I noticed when hard braking at high speeds, my sedan violently goes to the right. I tried to work out the problem that night and the morning before the race, but couldn’t figure it out with the tools I brought. I suspect maybe one of the caliper pistons is either frozen or engaging slower then usual. In any case it couldn’t be worked on there and then, so I dropped out. Luckily one of the EVO guys was looking for a spot, so he bought mine…so I was able to get my money back. I was bummed out at first, but everything worked out! A day at the track in nice weather, got to ride shotgun in an EVO all day, great group of people, and got my money back!

If I did race, it would have been a rough day. All the cars on the track were either M3s, EVOs, Porsches or Corvettes…with the exception of a few mixed makes. As far as Hondas go…only two S2Ks.

I’m just happy that I found out before the race. I’ll probably end up replacing all my calipers since all of them are original. I’ll make it to another event soon.

Here’s a few pics of my DB sitting in the pad, and a couple of track pics.

BlackDB1:… its all good man… think of it this way… you could’ve been on the track and your brakes failed… I wouldn’t want to know that your precious DB1 was in involved in a track accident… at least you find out about your brakes earlier…than later… seemed like fun day… great pics…

Ian… yeah i was able to get the fat fives… luckily my neighbor had an air compressor…make cutting a WHOLE lot easier…

blkdb1- good you found out beforehand…
alex- so you got sideskirts too. cool we gotta hook up soon. almost done settling in. hopefully in a few days.
ian- thanks again brotha for helping me move. tell jase i said thanks again. tell me when he’s in town because mom wants to cook you guys some steaks!!

hey no worries rex, jace said he’ll be back in a week or two…

I’m sure the officials would have seen my problem on the first corner and flag me in. It was fun, eventhough I didn’t run the course. It’s a nice facility. You socal guys should check it out sometime. coughmeetcough

thank god you caught it ahead of time paolo. surprised you didnt put the sterns on.

Yeah…seriously.

I was trying to find a set of the 615s before friday…but no luck. They’re supposedly out nationwide in 205/50/15s.
