This one will seperate the boys from the men!

So my buds 91ls won’t start. It will turn over but will not catch. I checked the coil, igniter, wires and got new spark plugs. Each plug is firing regularly with a good spark, but when I remove each spark plug from the head it comes out soaking wet with fuel. Tried to pull a code and the led will flash once when I turn the key ahead and once when I turn it back but nothing in between, I don’t know if this is a code or if it means the pcm is working correctly? I don’t know how to test the O2 sensor without running the car so I’m wondering if it crapped out and left the pcm in open loop and its flooding. Did the voltage test on the map harness and it checks ok but again without running the car it car it still could be the map, can resetting the Ecu be of any benefit? Any suggestions from the many experts on this site would be greatly apreciated, I have to fix this thing, if only for the principle of being stumped right now. Thanks,
Derek.
p.s. I did much reading from searching already and understand the importance of doing them first. Thanks again.

have u tried letting the spark plug dry up first…I would take out all the plugs and let both the plugs and the chamber dry up. Maybe your friend pumped the gas pedal too many times.

did he do anything prior to the car’s refusal to start?

Ken

Nope, dude got up, jumped in the car and nothin. :bawl: Very puzzling, no?

spray some break cleaner down into the chamber that will help disolve all of the fuel that it is their…just spray it and let it sit…then spray it and let it sit…if you do that for a an hour or so it should help dry it all up…then try it…mabey it just flooded once and its the same fuel…good luck man…

The car in mine! I did nothing to her to screw it up. I just hopped in her, tried to start her, but no go, and she hasn’t worked since. Were very puzzled? Please help!

Ryan

My car did this to me once, it flooded and stuff. My friend told me to floor it and crank it for like 30 seconds. After doing that, I then tried starting it again and it fired right up. You might want to try this, I don’t know how it worked, but it did.

Fuel relay switch???
if so i have one for sale if u want it cheap (brand new by the way)

Starting problem,again.

I just read your earlier post on your starting problem. There may be a connection here. If,when having your starter problem, you constantly turn the key on and off,the fuel injection control will squirt fuel into the cylinders as if the car is being restarted. If you did this too many times,it could be the cause of your flooding problem. Theres a good chance if you have fire and fuel,it should start. Do like one of the posters said and hold the peddle to the meddle as they say and see if you cant get her fired. My advice is when you have either a starter probem, main fuel relay problem, and the car wont start, dont turn the key to the off position before retrying so that fuel doesn`t get shot in everytime. On these things pumping does not flood the car,not like in the older cars. I found this out last week when i was belleding my brakes,i told the neighbrs wife to pump the peddle so i could bleed the rear brakes. I founf out after 15 minutes she was pumping the gas peddle…LOL

From what I have seen (my teg), turning over and not catching was due to a faulty ignition coil … you’re sure that’s not it?
