I bought my timing belt and tensioner from eBay about 3 months ago and my water pump is about to come in. I really got a good price on all of these: New Timing Belt and Tensioner $47 shipped
and Water Pump $32 Shipped. Does anyone want to write a quick tutorial on how to replace the timing belt? I’ll love you forever! Also, is there any more parts I may need to complete it?
why don’t you buy a manual?
it’s a pretty long procedure to type out, but basically you need to take off your valve cover, power steering belt, alternator belt, and A/C belt if you have A/C. remove crank pulley (do a search on here to see how to take it off easiest), remove timing belt covers, support engine and remove engine mount, remove old belt, change your water pump (i think you could do a search on here to see how to do that too), line up the cams at TDC, place crank at tdc, change your belt tensioner, install new belt, turn engine manually a few times to make sure tension is good and it’s not going to jump, and then put everything back together (make sure you find out what torque everything should be put back on at).
If you don’t have any problems, it should take probably 4 hours or so if it’s your first time. But if you run into problems, it can take a LOT longer than that.
yeah that’s all i needed to know…i do have a manual but haven’t had much time to go through it except for the times i had problems with my car. me and my friend were planning to do ares the same day so i guess it’ll take us from morning to night…hehe…anyways thanks ![]()
