To All The K-Series Nut Huggers...

i hate you.:fingban:

OMG pushrods!!!

k series ftw :umno:

i just saw someone sell a type r real jdm k20a with 6sp lsd trany hasport mounts axle harness and everything for a swap . only for 1700 . i dont know if this one is stolen or something but k engines are getting cheaper and cheaper now days, it is not a fancy dream to do k swap no more . from what ive been reading and seeing a k swap could be done for as low as 3000. you can get a k20a2 or k24a2 for 3000 plus other shits thats a less than $5000 swap if you go a none ivtec swap it run about 3000 - 4000 for everything. a k24a3 with almost 170ftlb of torque in a da, not many cars you cant smoke in the streets if you have that thang under the hood. what matters its just fitment for k24 but some ppl use a k20 oil pan with a little hood cutting(not all the way , just the metal frame)

i really think there is no need to argue for b or k, b is meant to be in our chasis, for the same money i would go k , cuz with same hp, k is more reliable and has more torque

^ do a K swap then

i am not just talking dude, my b18a is still in good shape has only 120k. by the time it goes out my knowledge and the money will allow me to do a k swap.

its just me tho, i dont rev high , i shift around 2k thats it , i happened to drive my friend’s rsx k20a3 ,once i liked the torque alot, i am gonna go a k24 hasport did a k24 swap , http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/tech/0609_htup_acura_integra_k_series_swap/index.html

“The engine swap is a 2.4 liter K24A1 from a 2003 CRV purchased from a salvage yard for $750. It is rated at 156hp @ 5900rpm and 160 lb-ft of torque @ 3600rpm. The transmission is 5spd from a 2003 Civic Si purchased from a salvage yard for $650.”

i am shop smart i think i can do it for cheap, but one thing i am not sure is i dont know if is legal in cali to swap engine, cuz i dont want no trouble

heres the link of what i found " type r k20a" for people who dont believe me

What is the deal with honda people wanting torque. There are way better cars that have torque if that’s what you want.

I’m not doubting you dude. If you want to do it, go ahead, I urge people to do whatever they want. But you’re in for a mess of trouble if you want it to be legal.

grammar skillz to pay the billz

p.s. if you want torque, u shift at 2k, it’ll be easier and less “illegal looking” to have a b20z motor, with a short geared b16 tranny, with a long 5th gear. high torque, good gearing, good 5th gear for the highway, and you’ll be spending less than $3k.

You’re also forgetting alot of other “small items” wiring, ecu, tune, radiator, hoses, header, etc etc etc… it’s the small things that add up if you want to go with a K motor.

Along with extensive labor.

i don’t think they want the torque. at least i didn’t. I just wanted 230+ N/A whp. The torque…it was a splendid bonus.

i just dont want those mods with peak dyno hp, some ppl just say “oh i have 170whp here is a dyno” .so what!! some hp is just peak power. when you want a reliable daily car, you dont rev it over 4000 5000 rpm, i just dont think a lot people do that. the ppl i know who drive a daily civic ,integra , they all dont shift over 3000 3800

yeah i know what you talking about man, im still thinking those small things or troubles that k would make me run into.

if is not legal , i would never do it , i am still confused on these "legal shits " in cali.

Long thread huh… well k series was never designed to go into our chassis. Its even ridiculous at some point how Honda enthisiasts try to make their car faster by adding a 2006 enigne. Have you seen Nissan or Toyota guys doing the same??? Seriously man. Ill wait for 2012 when Honda comes up with a new engine series and watch for reatrds trying to dump those engines in their 92 civics.

:umno::bs:

designed??? wtf… you think honda DESIGNED any of their motors to be swapped between different chassis?

it was never “designed” to be in any other chassis other than what it comes with stock from the factory…

good condition motors are harder to come by nowadays… so by all means sit and play with your motor from a decade ago.

well there is some good argument about what was designed and what wasn’t designed for our cars. The fact that Honda didn’t design the K-Series engine with the DA chassis in mind speaks to nothing more then what your personal opinion would be about having it.

Companies like HASport have spent time designing things to make it work. But lets be honest here…it’ll never be as good as if honda would have designed it. Once you start moving into swaps that force you to remove amenities like A/C, P/S, and cut, weld, and dent your frame/chassis i think a solid argument can be made about someone preferring to not do that.

For me, i had a K20 swapped CRX, and every time i drove it i could tell that the engine was not designed for the car…i noticed it everytime i drove it. I love K-Series, and loved that car, but i find myself driving an S2000 and enjoying it a lot more (even though it is crazy slow compared to the CRX) and i think thats because the parts installed were designed to work with each other.

If i ever build a car again it’ll definately be around the K-Series engine, but i think it’ll be a better chassis for it then a DA or EF. I’m leaning toward EK, or DC. I think even HASport would admit that they put more time and R&D into the DC mount kits. Hybrid Racing even sells A/C kits for those chassis.

:excite:
Have you seen Nissan or Toyota guys doing the same???
you clearly have never seen a 2JZ Mark 2 supra then, or newer SR20 or RB26 in a 240sx… theres your Toyota and Nissan example…

im not trying to be a douche, i get your point… its just, everyone is doing it, not just the honda guys :excite:

deep inside i think nissan is the shit , theyr are not doing good in the tuning area here , cuz they didnt bring all the skyline and silvia models , sr and rb motors are like crazy, japan is always like that, they keep all the good stuffs in side their country.

are you talking about the actual nissan company not doing good here in terms of high performance stock cars?

or are you talking about nissan tuning/aftermarket/availability for the community?

dude, the k series motors are like the biggest and baddest honda motors as is. you dont have to do anything to them, they are just automatically fast as hell.
