i don’t mean to bother anyone again, but does anyone have a good idea for a good “beginner’s” tool kit? husky? craftsman? blah… blah… blah? any ideas? thanks, josh.
I have a craftsman set. It’s about $100 and I got it on sale for $80. Sears usually have them on sale like once a month. It came with a 1/4 3/8 and 1/2-inch drivers along with standard and metric sockets. I’m pretty sure it’s about a 100 piece set. Also came with 4 regular double ended wrenches.
Put out the $ to get a decent toolbox, you won’t be disappointed. You can always add to it later. One important thing to get is like a 10" extension: good for taking off those spark plugs ![]()
Since you live in the US, I recommend Craftsman. They offer a lifetime warranty on their parts. Up here in Canada, we have Motomaster which seems to have the same quality.
BTW, I tried a Husky socket trying to remove a bolt holding my hatch striker. Let’s just say it was a waste of $$$ coz’ I couldn’t return it back (no warranty).

definitely dont buy cheap tools. must have lifetime warranty like craftsman. anything happens, they swap it on the spot. cheap tools break under stress. for household use its fine, but for your car you got those almost frozen nuts/bolts that the mechanic used a impact set with.
i picked up a basic auto set on sale for liek 20bucks at sears. metric/standard sockets, sparkplug, screwdriver, hex keys, etc. like 50pc i think. if i had to spend 50 that wouldve been fine since its worth it
craftsman, i bought a 144 piece on sale at sears for like 99 bucks, great deal vvveeeeeeeery nice tool set
Where I used to work they swear by Snap On. They didn’t pay me enough to buy snap on. 18$ a socket!!
Craftsman have lifetime warranty. Best to use, break then return. Unless you have Bling Bling then get snap on. It is the best out there. (I still have my snap on jacket =0 )
