Tranny Question

I am ready to do my auto to stick tranny swap. I need some comments to what tranny I should get and how much would it run. Would I also need the ecu? I am looking to do an engine swap in the future (B16) But I can not do both right now. Thanks for the help in advance!!!

whenever you go to do your swap…if you’re doin the b16a…get the y1 tranny, but make sure you get the lsd…good luck!

I am going to get a LSD for sure. Can I use the Y1 tranny for my stock LS engine or no. Help me out here peoples. Thanks

Yes you can use the B16A tranny on your B18A. Do a search on tranny swaps cause I don’t know what you all need, ECU or not. I wouldn’t think you’d need that but who knows. Also, it is much cheaper to do the engine and tranny at the same time, unless you’re doing it yourself. Good luck. SOunds fun!

You are better off doing the swap all at one time. to do just the tranny swap yopu will have to remove the axles, and pull the tranny off. Once that is done it is easier to pull the whole motor and do a swap, it is just a few vacume lines, fuel lines and harness. You can also change the clutch while ithe engine/ tranny is out of the car (much easier). You will need to swap the ECU when you do the swap. You can make sure that you have the right ECU by pulling off the cover ( 5 screws) and looking at the taller circuit board that is off to one side. The Smaller ECU circuit board will say MT for Manual tranny or AT for automatic tranny. The best tranny for a B16 swap is the Y1 with LSD and a swapped LS 5th gear. or a YS1 with LSD. They are a little hard to find!

thanks for the help, I guess I’m just going to have to settle with my auto just a lil longer and do the whole swap at the same time.

2ndJenn, you know how much it is to get the LS 5th swapped into the Y1? Just curious, thanks.
