Transmission leak!

Hey dont want to sound stupid but have u smelled the fluid is it transmission fluid or regular oil? If its oil it could be a rear main seal, and i had the same issue till i figured out i had been getting the wrong axle seal.

yea its tranny fluid…im going to try again…on jackstands ill let you guys know how it goes

so i may have found the problem…my axle keeps sepreating from the tranny…why?? i had it on jacks and watch it leak out of the axle…any help?

one of 3 problems,

the carrier bearing in the driveshaft (axle) is gone and causing the shaft to move in and out,

the gear box bolts are not tight and causing the box to move away from the engine,

the shaft finish could be damaged causing a leak, check for rust or pitting of the surface

changing clutch by myself at night. :bang:

there might be a crack somewhere hard to see

Did you fix it?

no still having the same problem

In the picture is that the halfshaft? or the axle? If it is ,may be bent or not bolted down properly. mybe even that metal ring cover

the halfshaft…im going to check it again after the rain stops…but i may have not tightened the bolts enough and i dont think its bent

how did it go?

well i removed the axle again…got a new seal still leaks…i read that it can leak from not putting the seal in with some kind of seal tool

anyone have any advise?

as long as you used something flat to press the seal in, that case is unlikely.

wierd issue man, try another half shaft and see what the results are

alright…ima pick up a new halfshaft this weekend…anyone in the NORCAL area want to help me figure this out?:umno:
