Tried it all and my car still won't start

The car doesn’t have to be running to check codes. Just turn the key on and watch the light on the ECU. Try that and see if there is a code in it. Something has to be cutting out or not good enough when it doesn’t start. Have you checked the plugs and wires as mentioned above? You could try a fuel pressure and compression test but as said above it is likely some sort of electrical problem. Are you sure there is good spark and fuel pressure?

It’s a 92. You have to jump it and count the CEL flashes. In order for there to be something wrong, the computer has to recognize a problem, to recognize a problem the car must run for a little bit to see what isn’t working. Everytime the battery is unhooked, it resets the computer therefore erasing whatever the computer thought was wrong. Trust me, we’ve done the code checking. Nothing there because it hasn’t been running.

Just a thought. You ever check all of your grounds?

Grounds have been checked. Car is being taken to a mechanic tomorrow and there gonna look it over. If they can’t figure it out, it’s going to a local wiring specialist in Nashville because the wiring looks a little shotty

Got the car over to the shop today. After it got off the wrecker, one of the windows was cracked and they are calling for rain today so I went to roll it up and the battery was dead. Hooked up some jumper cables and rolled the window up and then I said what the hell so I turned the key. She fired right up as she should. I left it running, revved it up a few problems and it revved fine, unhooked the jumper cables and then it ran for a minute or two, then it died. I then tried to turn the key again and nothing happened. Key would turn but nothing would click. Does the computer have a limp mode or something like that? It’s almost like the computer is shutting the car off because something is wrong. Is that a possibility?

alternator ?? did you check your headlights to see if you had juice ?

The original problem still has not been fixed. I guess the alternator could be bad now, but again the original problem has not been fixed.

Have the shop check the battery and alternator. Not saying this is the original problem but it could be related. Not so common on old DAs but on obd2 hondas it is a common no start problem because of a weak battery. The starter takes such little current to crank that the system has just enough to turn the starter but won’t run the ECU. Not likely in your case but just thought I’d mention it.

I understand what you are saying, but that’s not the original problem nor do I think that’s the problem now. If the battery was weak/dead, lights would flicker on the dash or you’d hear a click or something. I’m not worried about my battery or alternator. I need the car running and it’s not running because of a bad battery/alternator. That’s not the problem. That wouldn’t prevent the key from nor doing anything when turned after it shutoff. My radio and AC were still blowing even when I went to start it a second time and the auto belts were working. I need some suggestions as to why it won’t start, not to why it quits running. Thanks.

The shop I took it to says they are confident that it is the fuel pump. It’s being replaced and it should be ready this week. I’m praying that’s the problem.

According to the shop I’ve taken it to, the fuel pump is bad. I’m looking for the cheapest route possible and an auto store is gonna charge $150 plus for a pump. In the future I plan on going turbo and I would need a higher output fuel pump then. Should I go ahead and spring for a Walbro 255 since it’s gonna be cheaper than a parts store pump or should I stick with there 190 pump?? I guess my only concern with the 255 is since it pumps more would it cause any problems on a stock motor? That might be a dumb question, but I’m kind of a newb to fuel pumps.

you might need a new ecu. i had a similar problem recently. I put in a new main relay, new distributor, starter, fuel pump relay, fuel pump, every last wire and ground was checked and it turned out to be the main ecu that was F**cking everything up.

Well the shop has checked and says fuel pump so I’ll go with it for now.

let me know how things turn out.

I’ll post up if it fixes it or not. I guess the next step would be ECU. What ECU do our cars run and could I run one from a newer integra as long as it’s OBDI?

i believe its a pr4

any updates? im having the same problems :[ i need my baby up and running again, otherwise im riding my bike everywhere… not the best choice.

Turned out being a bad ECU. She’s fixed now.

Couple of ideas for you: check your battery cables for corrosion or loose connections, next check your timing. I rebuilt my distributor and messed up the timing. Also make sure when you put the distributor together you lined up everything the way it was before. Sounds electrical to me so I would look intio that part and double check. Can u get another distributor just to rule that part out also?

Also did you check your timing belt to see it didn’t snap or skip a tooth? Sarting to think its your timing that is off. Well check all those things then let us know
