I have a 91 GS and i wana get a turbo and eventually a blow off valve but i dont kno much about it so is it possible to do this and if so, how do i get started?
Would you also like to eventually get a turbo manifold or use the stock manifold? :giggle:
http://www.beesandgoats.com/boostfaq/g2icturbo.html Please refer to this before asking anymore… shall I say… misinformed questions?
all he wants is a turbo and a BOV? :giggle:
it can be done for around $1500 if you know what our doing and get some smoken deals.
but good luck
You may want to read the turbo guide in this forum, twice.
you need this book------maximum boost by corky well (bently books) very good book. and the guide in this site is awsome too.
if you think all you need is the turbo and blow off valve read the following thread.

you might wanna just look into a full kit with everything in it like off of ebay or something.
or you could just start off tuning your car up N/A style and get use to it that way first i.e. a I/H/E setup, some cams and head work, and some suspension mods to get used to the whole tuning thing first
new turbo & engine setup
for starters i will not be deleting any of the gs accesories, so i now need some advice on how to better set up the ls engine in it now, well i mean for space limmits. i will also do something not usually done- medium compression and modderate boost. it sounds like suicide but i will use my stock crank, a T3/T04B, 2 side-mount intercoolers one next to the other(or something better) cp 10:1 turbo pistons, not too sure on the con rods yet but the bolts and bearings must be made to hold up. any feedback is welcome including brands and better parts. yea, a BOV would be nice too…
obviously i gota do more before a turbo but i was just tryin to figure out wat to do to my car before gettin there…that web page helped a bit and yea i already got I/H/E and a few other things…
I hate to say it but it doesn’t seem like it helped at all. You mentioned you had I/H/E, do you know what size piping the exhaust is? You won’t be able to use your header, and you’ll either have to cut off a small portion of the filter end tubing on the intake or unless you get lucky and your IC piping will fit right up to the tubing without the filter on there.
One simple thing you HAVE to keep in mind is that you don’t want to rush the project. Rushing it will only have you back at the drawing boards, and carless. Do it right the first time, buy quality parts, research, research, research! Read the guide thoroughly and try to draw a picture of what it’s explaining. Look at a few of the custom install pics on here and try to identify what everything does, but firstly know what it does.
I hope what I suggested helped a bit, just don’t rush it is all I can say. If you have any more questions feel free to ask them while the thread is at least active, lol.
EDIT: ‘built2run’ instead of the 2 side-mount IC’s (probably from a DSM, right?) you could purchase a Tyrus IC from www.johnnyracecar.com. At the prices he advertises it’s a steal and much more efficient in cooling over the side-mounts (I guess depending on how you were to mount them.) Another quality part that is also cheap is a 90-94 DSM BOV. What are your goals you have in mind?
well my last motor suffered the fate of a boost-happy driver( :hmm: ) it had low compression and other such turbo amenities, but i just wanted to try something new and see if it feels good. also in florida there is a cavalier with some high output with a similar setup… there is something that i did want to try with a t3/super60 and that is to put the waste-gate on the cold side near the BOV but air reversion gets to be an issue at aprx. 140k rpm(turbo). i just wanted to experiment. the by product of all of this is good performance but the rest is hard to say. to answer the question, i want something new, efficiant, and fun. i also have a problem with getting it to the ground in a controlled manner.
just saw the site and those are some great deals, thnx. that will be in the front of my ride soon!
