Turbo Oiling With Remote Filter

I’m ordering components to build my turbo for my DB and I have a question about using a spin on oil adapter and remote filter setup.

Setup:
----Spin on → remote filter → turbo inlet
then
----Turbo outlet → spin on

Is it alright to have the outlet on the turbo run back to the spin-on adapter on the block?

All of the lines in the setup are -8AN with 1/2" NPT fittings, but the Oil Inlet on the turbo is 1/8" NPT. Is it okay to use a 1/2" NPT to 1/8" NPT adapter for the turbo inlet?

No, this would be bad.

  1. You don’t want that much oil flow to the turbo. You will be providing so much high pressure oil that it will push past the seals and into the compressor and exhaust housings.

  2. The oil outlet is not presurized. With you configuration oil would not flow back to the adapted as required.

You can still use a remote oil filter but it will be an isolated circuit from the turbo oil feed circuit.

Alright. I had heard someone talking about feeding the turbo that way, but I must have misunderstood. Thanks for clarification. I went ahead and just got a oil pressure sender tee-off style setup. Thanks.
