Turboedit tuners in SC/NC/GA?

I really don’t want to fork up $500 to switch obd and run Hondata. My turbo project is closing up and I really need to find somone experienced in tuning with turboedit. Willing to meet. Thanks
Chris

Im in Bluffton Sc and It took me a while to find a tuner. Lucked out one night at the track and found a guy that tunes hondata in Savannah. Ill be getting my car tuned very soon. He may be able to tune your setup.

Thanks bro, find out if he has experience tuning turboedit and let me know. I called a few shops including Balanced Performance, and P1 Auto that are both Hondata tuners. They told me they think they can tune with turboedit but weren’t completely sure. I need someone that actually knows turboedit and is completely comfortable tuning my car. Not someone that is pretty sure they can. THanks, and let me know something.
Chris

His name is Jay I think. Only met him once last week but I’ve heard he knows his shit. Im going to him regardless since I know he can tune my hondata

Just got off the phone with him. He seems very knowledgable. He told me he can tune with turboedit but, he really doesn’t like to b/c there are so many glitches in these free software. He told me that is why they come out with new versions all the time. He said he’s never had fuel maps go to zero on him and screens freeze with hondata unlike with uberdata. Anyway, he’s cutting me a very good deal. It looks like I will be going with him. Thanks bro,
Chris

:frowning:

.

I know.
I really don’t want to have to fork up $500 for hondata and convert to obd 1 when I can have the same options for free. Unfortunately, there is nobody around here that has experience with turboedit and I really don’t feel comfortale tuning the car mysef.

Take that $500 and go to EFI101. With that experience/knowledge it will jump start you to understand tuning for ANY system out there.

It’s really not that hard to tune in your own car…and once you do that, helping people out close by is easier and you can make a couple bucks back

Xenocron, you really think after taking the EF101 class and some online research that someone would be ready to tune their own car? I’m very interested.

Yep…its exactly what I did. I knew I wanted to tune my turbo car when I had it done using Ghettodyne (before it died out and TurboEdit replaced it) and once out of that class I had complete confidence in doing it. That was my launching point and everything made sense as I went along and kept learning by doing.

It’s really just that 1st hurdle of everyone saying how difficult tuning is blah blah blah. It’s really not that hard and if you start conservative and slowly test your boundaries, you will be just fine (and so will your motor).

When I took the class it was a little less expensive as it was just starting so Im sure Ben Strader has gotten much better at teaching the classes and the content is even better. Well worth the $500…

After that class, all you will need is a wideband…and after tuning 2 or 3 of your friends cars with it, pays for itself

Again…

All sounds good on paper but, what am I supposed to do in the meantime about driving my car? Plus, I’m not planning on doing anything else with this after I get my setup running. This is more like a car to have fun with until I finish my new project.

You’d be surprised how much changes/needs to change when you boost a car. Once you boost, you can never get enough

Chris

Glad I could help. How far are you from Savannah?

Savannah seems to be about a 4 1/2hr to 5hr drive…It’s a good ways from the Spartanburg/Greenville area.

Youll have to let me check it out when your in town. Maybe Ill have mine finished by the time you come. blackcoupe01@yahoo.com

Well, I finally got in touch with J. Davis and he is tuning my car on the dyno with, you guessed it, TurboEdit!! I’m so happy I’m not having to switch to obd1 and pay for all the Hondata stuff when I can have it for free…Man I feel relieved!! BTW, xenocron, if I’m not mistaken, J. Davis in on quite a few forums, and knows his stuff right? Thanks,
Chris

BTW…going this route is saving me close to $500 dollars from Hondata!!

You will be AMAZED by the amount of shit he knows. He first amaxed me when he made (or attempted) a TIG welder out of transeformers from busted up microwaves. The guy is a sponge for info.

Tell him I said hello when you get tuned and make sure you post your map on my BIN file site please

Will do bro! I’m so excited about the tune…only thing left is my intercooler piping (which I’m getting a VERY good deal from the exhaust shop, $50 mandrel bent 2.25, and he’s bending it as much as possible so no welds!) and the exhaust it’s self…should be done within the next few weeks!! BTW, I will need to upgrade to a larger fuel pump or will the stock one be effecient enough to run the injectors? Some say yes and others say no…
