hey everyone, i bought a turbo kit from a freind with everything for my car. he was using it on his jdm gsr and had it tuned with p28 chipped wtih chrome and made 280whp with 8lbs of boost, the kit is complete its a greddy with the 18g turbo, im only gonna run 7 lbs of boost and was wonderin what u guys think of this. his motor was runnin good even with the high compression i figure with 7 lbs it should be fine. anything i should be cautious with or watch out for. my motor is healthy and all. thanks
just make sure it has timing out (which im sure it does) and that the a/f is decent. id suggest installing it and then finding a dyno that does specials like 3 runs w/ air fuel for like 75 buck or whatever. that will give you a good idea of the a/f and you get the power and tq in the process. and at a later point if possible you can slightly modify ignition timing from using the torque curve
thanks for the info. ya im gonna be runnnin a crome p28 ecu that is already tuned for a jdm gsr with teh same turbo setup on it and everything the same. hopefully it’ll give me a decent tune til i get a chance to hit up the dyno. im gonna run the apexi boost guage adn the aem wideband air fuel guage so im gonna have a close eye on things. everythign should go well, im replacing the valve springs and retainers wtih skunk 2’s and i got a cometic head gasket at .043" thickness which should help lower the compressin a bit and arp head studs to help hold the head in and a greddy timing belt. me and my freinds are gonna adjust my valves and timing to perfect. im only gonna start off runnin 7lbs of boost. everythign shoudl hopefuly go good.
