Im thinking about throwing some CTR cams in my B16a for some power until I get the money for a turbo set in the next few years. I know most say to stay stock on cams with turbo applications but are the type r cams good to run with turbo? Any downsides to doin this?
I have a set of CTR cams with 2000 miles on them for sale. $450.00
Civic Type-R cams have a bit too much overlap for a turbo motor.
Overlap is when the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time. Which dissipates the pressure built up by a turbo.
VTEC cams are already high-overlap. With B17A and B16A cams being the least aggressive B-series VTEC cams.
U could get them - but just take 'em off and sell them when you go turbo and put your B17A (or B16A?) cams back on.
ITR Cams for turbo

There’s a guy from the SHO and Honda-tech forum boostin on a B16 with ITR’s pushin over 350/wheels. Granted he’s built as hell, but it can be done. If your not lookin to go Turbo any time soon, I’d go ahead and upgrade to ITR’s. In a couple years, you could probably sell them for almost as much as you payed for em now.
Get the ITR’s. With some cam gears you should be able to dial out all of the overlap. I plan on running ITR’s when I finish building my turbo LS/Vtec.
TooSmooth - o phat! Team Rush! LoL!
There are lots of SC guys in here…
I thought u were Kahil at first…LoL
I don’t know about going with cams designed for NA performance…on a turbo machine…
stock gsr cams have been used by top race teams on motors making 600+ hp.
