hi i was was wondering if headers from a 2000 integra type r would fit on any B series ? and will it give any hp gains on a RS engine? thanx
first off, its “header” no “s” our cars are inline 4 cylinders, meaning we only have ONE header. v6’s, v8’s and horizontally opposed 4’s will have more than one header.
second, all b series headers/exhaust manifolds will bolt to all b series blocks. So, yes an itr header will bolt up to your engine. However it will not bolt up to your exhaust. If you have a 92-93 then you’ll just need a couple simple mods to make it fit. If you have a 90-91 then you need a couple more mods, plus the 02 sensor will be in the wrong place (not sure how much that actually matters).
an itr header might be overkill for your stock b18a. an aftermarket header for your engine may be a better idea… but this will depend on what your future plans are. Also, be aware that the usdm and jdm itr headers are different. You don’t want a usdm one, its not good an tubular like the jdm one (or so i hear).
what mods do i have to do inorder to make this fit. and **** i got the usdm one. but had a good deal on it. plan on doing a ls/vtec conversion, would this setup be ok ? thanx man

to make the header bolt up to the exhaust you will need to:
-get a new flange and maybe another part put on. This will allow you to actually bolt the header to the exhaust. I’m not 100% clear on the exact mods and parts needed… but any muffler shop should be able to do it.
-you will also need to extend your stock exhaust by a few inches. The 92+ headers are all a little shorter than the 90-91 header. Since the 90-91 header is longer, the exhaust is shorter… thus leaving a gap if you try and use a 92+ header and 90-91 exhaust. Again, any muffler shop should be able to do this. Or you could even buy an exhaust extension. Greddy makes the extension. They make it so that they can make one exhaust for the 90-93 teg (if you have a 90-91 you just buy the exhaust. If you have a 92-93 you buy the exhaust and the $40-$50 extension piece to make it fit).
Also, the 02 bung on the 92+ headers is down by the cat. On your 90 it is up closer to the engine. I’m not sure how well the 02 sensor will work if its down by the cat (since the ecu is designed to get readings from a different spot in the exhaust stream). So, that may or may not pose a problem, i’m really not sure. If it is a problem you’ll have to have the old bung welded shut and a new one put up where it supposed to be.
The usdm itr header is for sure better than your stock 90-91 exhaust manifold, but its not the best option out there. If you plan on building a strong motor then you’ll probably want to upgrade it to something better in the future. So, whether or not you want to spend the money now for this sub-par header is up to you. I just think it’d be a better idea to sell it back, and keep saving up for something that will work best for your future setup. That way you only have to buy one header, and only have to modify your system once—it’ll save you $$ in the long run.
This question is asked a lot on this site so I think we should archivethis . Thanks Colin.
