you don’t need any special tools. just a manual and normal hand tools. Its pretty easy. Should take 1-2hrs for the whole thing if you’ve never done it before(put car up on jack, take your time, double check the adjustments…). For someone who has done it before it should be under an hour.
Make sure you do it when the engine is bone cold. The teg tips has a good write up on this.
The first time I did it, I was kinda intimidated coz I’ve never opened up the valve cover n stuff before, but with a Helms and teg tips, you really cant go wrong.
Also make sure to torque everything down.
You need a feeler guage, make sure you buy the 1 that is thin enough. I bought 1 assuming they w ere all the same, and the smallest it went down to was .005. Get 1 that goes down .003.
Make sure you have a torque wrench too. Be careful on the valve cover bolts, they strip fairly easy.
Took me about 1.5 hours my first time.
lol…took me 4 hours the first time…now it takes me like 30 minutes?

thanks guys. is a torque wrench an absolute must? they’re kinda expensive … all i have r normal tools like wrenches and screwdrivers – the type of stuff u get from a $20 all-in-one toolkit from autozone if u know whati mean – i dont even have a feeler gauge.
so it looks like i need a feeler gauge, anything else?

Unless you’re familiar enough with one to be fairly accurate with torque settings by just your hand, you definitely need one.

A feeler guage is a must, i got mine for $4 @ pepboys. I got my torque wrench at pepboys for $18.
Just get it, it will come in handy later.
