Valve Train upgrade

So i might get my hands on a fully built LS block, the guy is asking 950$ for it, but im getting a sweet deal on the block, another block, and a 93 GSR transmission with 98GSR gears, and a 91 RS shell. Ive decided if the trade goes through, im gonna put the block and GSR tranny together, find a LS head, manifold, etc, and turbo charge it later down the road. My question was, since the block is builtup, i wanted to put a little more boost then you would on a stock engine, but wasnt sure if the stock head would be ok to use. I was gonna get a stock LS head probably/maybe from a junkyard and use it with the built block. Does anyone think i should build the head with a different valvetrain? or would the stock head be ok for say…15lbs of boost? anyone every had any problems with a stock LS head? (cams, valves, springs etc) thanks in advance!

I don’t think you will have any major problems, but it would restrict the potential of the motor. I would try to find a built head myself, but I think you will be ok if you do decide to just find a stock head. This is just my opinion of course.

i have two spare ls heads if you need one let me know

How much do you want for em? what year? what all would you let go? Pretty much… if i do the trade i would need everything, like the head, cams, intakemanifold, distributor etc. All i have is the block and tranny. Thanks.

I’ve got a head here as well…its completely disassembled & clean, no cams.

I dont need much at all $30 plus shipping and its yours.

is that head only missing the cams? what all comes with it. cause if you still have it i may buy it.

yeah its the head, valves, rockers, retainers, springs, etc…no valve cover

i was going to attempt to port it myself for fun one day, but now i dont have any need for it
