Very Urgent!!!!!

First I appologize if this question has been asked before, but I’ve done a search and read through each thread twice and cannot find the answer to my problem. I have a 1992 Integra RS 1.8 auto with no mods -yet (due to being a poor student). Two days ago my shifter cable became damaged and my car only has drive no matter what gear it is in. Cannot seem to source a used one and the dealer price is well above $300 tax in. So heres my question:

Will a 5-speed manual transmission from a 1.5L 1991 honda civic match to my 1.8L 1992 integra? Nobody here seems to know for sure without first removing my own transmission to check first. And I need to know this ASAP.

I ask this because I can get this car for nothing and there are no integras in my province of newfoundland that the owner dosent want $500-plus for just the tranny. I am an apprentice automotive technician and understand that this would be a bit labour intensive but my time is free.

So if anybody can let me know if this has been done and/or if it will work PLEASE let me know. Its fustrationg to drive a car that dosent know what drive gear to be in and cannot go in park neutral or reverse.

well, i have an answer, and a question…

how did you get out of spaces and stuff… withoout being able to go in reverse…?

oh, and you might want to check out some of the other sites, those that specialize in 91 civics

honda-acura.net
hondavision.com
hondalife.com
hybrids.honda.jp

one of the guys on these sites would definetely know if nobody can tell u here

definative answer here

and it is absolutely not. D series and B series do not mix. it will not bolt to your B series bellhousing. I have several auto tranny’s lying around, if you would like to purchase one and pay for shipping from texas…

Wanna give me that civic? Too bad you are so far away.

Ben

to x4evawizex when i parked the car i had to find a spot where i could just drive in and drive out if there was none to be found i would have to push my car out of its spot.

O.K. so the 1.5L honda civic tranny wont work thanks for the info you saved me from a weekends aggrivation.

Next question:
Is there any other honda vehicle that I can swap a 5-speed tranny into my car from? I can go as far as swapping the engine and tranny from one vehicle to another if necessary. Could this work with a prelude or an accord for example? If so what year and what engine sizes will work with my integra.

The reason why i ask this is, that not only is the shifter cable not working ($300+ for new one) but my engine is slowly dying (low compression on 2cyls.) and i figure that since i would prefer to have a 5-speed and eventualy i will need an engine rebuild it would be just as easy and a lot cheaper for me to buy another vehicle with a good engine and trans thats rusted out or damaged for cheap then do a complete swap with them.

you might want to look into a b18a swap, i think they are like $500, and are complete with trans.

because it looks like youre lacking in the funds, so i wouldnt suggest get a b16a, etc

so just look locally/online for a b18a you can swap in, thus killing 2 birds with one stone.

or possibly keep the block in your garage, and build it up.
