brand new distributor, ngk wires, denso plugs and O2 sensor. still bogging a bit and a lil bit of backfiring. tried to do the timing and i have it fully advanced and its still not within spec. not sure what the cause of that would be yet.
still running rich and getting bad mpg. black cloud of smoke while in “vtec”
haven’t been able to check fuel pressure yet.
i have to get this thing tuned real soon.
uhhhh…sux to be you… :nobody:
get the car TUNED its probably just a running a base map ,and your wondering y the car runs like crap.
nice job bringing up an old topic
PyRo_GS-R : you’ve been here what… a month and a half when you posted that? unless you have something helpful to say dont post in my thread ok? this isn’t off-topic.
anyways… had the car meet today and decided to get a bit of work done on the teg. vtec still not working. i thought for sure it was an ecu problem so i tried another ecu today and still nothing. was gonna start another thread but realized i still had this one going.
car has been tuned. lots of new tune-up parts.
here is where it is weird now. if i let the car sit for a few hours and cool down and then go back to it and test to see if vtec will engage it will for the first 2 gears. by then i have to slow down so i dont know if it will continue to go. by the time i stop and go and try to get into vtec again it will not let me. i dont understand what the problem could be. i tested as much as i could and still does not work. i also found out that when i first bought the car that the infamous dowel was missing. so i ordered that part and put it in and since then i could hit vtec after it has been sitting for a while. any HELPFUL feedback is welcomed and appreciated. tia
bump. where the vtec gurus at?
bump.
this is a stupid problem. i have been trying to help chad out with this. we tried my vtec sol. and my pr4 ecu chipped for vtec. still nothing. im thinking its the wiring.
i would guess wiring too but i went through the helms guidelines for checking codes and stuff and tested as many different problems that i could and they all turned out good.
can hit vtec for first and second gear after car sits 2-3 hours and cools down. wtf???
Brian are you referring to the PR4 ECU that you stole from me?
still trying to get this problem fixed. i’ve narrowed down a few more problems however. i tested to make sure that the ecu is sending the signal and at the right rpm and is doing so.
so now it pretty much has to be a problem with the mechanics part. something must not be put in the right spot or something. i dont see any other way that the ecu would be sending the signal and yet it wont go into vtec. but then this doesn’t really tie into the fact that i can do it when the engine is pretty cool to the touch after 2-3 hours for the first 2 gears and then stop.
i was told by someone to try and use 20w50 oil and that didn’t help at all either.
anyone have any input on this problem it is appreciated. thanks.
