no. vtec itself is a performance gain. it lets you run a more aggressive cam while keeping a lower cam for lower speed drivability and torque. thats all it is. a vtec head has superior flow. when vtec kicks in, it will flow more air. turbo likey. vtec doesnt affect reliability. all it is is a bigger cam.
is it worth the money to run a vtec motor? is it worth it to go hybrid? will this certain n/a cam have too much overlap? can i dial most of it out with cam gears? these are the things you have to decide for yourself.
