Hi guys im new here, and i tried searching but couldnt find an answer. Heres the situation, Ok, the other day, i warmed up my car (90 teg ls) and i noticed that it was sorta spitting water out of the exhaust. Is this bad? By the way, my car is basically stock except for aem cai, and its got 180,000 miles on it, if that info helps. Thanks in advance for any help.

You sure it wasn’t condensation due to a cold/humid morning?
Yeah, i asked my dad and uncles and they all said its just probably due to condensation. So i guess this isnt anything bad then, right? Thanks for the help though.

It is more than likely, condensation. When your car cools, water vapor sits in the exhaust piping. When it heats up, the water is pushed out of the exhaust and generally drips.
This is the same reason you see steam from a car’s exhaust that has just been started in the cold. This is normal, and will eventually cause your exhaust to rust out if you take a lot of short drives. Longer drives will dry out and expell all of the water vapor which allows the metal to keep from rusting longer.

A catalytic converter is a device that uses a catalyst to convert three harmful compounds in car exhaust into harmless compounds.
The three harmful compounds are:
Hydrocarbons (in the form of unburned gasoline)
Carbon monoxide (formed by the combustion of gasoline)
Nitrogen oxides (created when the heat in the engine forces nitrogen in the air to combine with oxygen)
In a catalytic converter, the catalyst (in the form of platinum and palladium) is coated onto a ceramic honeycomb or ceramic beads. The catalyst helps to convert carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide. It converts the hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water. It also converts the nitrogen oxides back into nitrogen and oxygen
