Bear in mind that I HAVE to keep my front seats. Since I cant afford the SiR-G motor I want, I want to offset the power/ weight ratio by as much as possible. Thanks guys.
ALSO…
Oh HAPPY DAY! I’m an official G2IC member today!![]()
-gut interior (everything but dash and front seats)
-remove power steering system
-remove ac system
-remove rear wiper and motor assembly (there is a small rubber plug on the firewall that fills the hole in the hatch perfectly)
-remove antenna motor (if you don’t listen to the radio)
-remove stereo (personaly I couldn’t handle this, i need music when i drive
-remove front wipers when its not the rainy season
-remove passenger side view mirror
-remove heat shields around exhaust
-remove dust shields around brakes
-scrape the sound deadening material off the car (this is a pain, and road noise will increase)
all that stuff is for free. If you are willing to spend some $$ then here is some more stuff:
-one piece headlights (looks like you’ve got an xsi, so this doesn’t apply to you)
-cf hood
also some things you can buy that won’t really make the car itself that much lighter, but will make the car accelerate faster because it will make the engine think that the car is lighter:
-lighten flywheel
-buy lightweight rims (you can pick up some 12lbs rota’s for about $400)
I probably forgot some stuff, but that should give you something to work on.

Actually I have a 90 GS that im building to be a JDM XSi (couldnt think of a screen name). Thanks for all the tips bro. People are gettin stingy with the advice around here. LOL.
well, in that case:
-one piece headlights (they not only look sic, but are a good deal lighter. and in reality they aren’t that expensive. Buy some, sell your stock lights, and total it’ll only cost you a max of about $50-$100 --well worth it IMO)
also, jdm bumper supports are lighter weight. I’m not sure how strong they are though. And I believe there is a crossmember on our cars that can be removed (i dont’ think it came on the 92-93 gsr’s), i don’t remember exactly.
CF hood of course got to be in there. lose about 35 lbs. of course it will cost you about 13 bucks for every lb you lose o nthe car hehe.
relocate your battery to the trunk. helps distribute weight better
dillinger: thats a good point, relocating the battery to the trunk can help get better weight distribution to help with handling.
to add to that, you can replace the stock battery with a smaller lighter weight one. If you’re not running much of a stereo system then it should provide plenty of power.
Lexan windows - not street legal yet
yeah i already have the 1-pieces. It seems like all of the nick nacks are superficial. I know every little bit can add up to a lot though. Thanks for helpin me out guys.

If you really have the cash,
maybe an all fiberglass/carbon-fibre body treatment. Other things people forgot to mention :
- take out the spare tire and jack.
- Cruise control module (not that it’s heavy or anything).
- lightweight seats
- 15" Kosei K1 rims I believe are around 13-15lbs. if you don’t like the Rotas.
- Aluminum Rad
- Thinner Rad Fan
Show us some pics when you’re done,
