what shoud the oil psi be........?

I just installed an autometer 0-100 psi mechanical oil press. gauge. Im curious as to what psi should it be reading at idle and under full throttle on a stoc 90 b18a. it read 60 when cold then went to like 30psi at normal operating temp. then after a while of drivng it stayed around 20 at idle and went to like70-80 during normal acceleration.

Acura says: once the engine has reached operating temperature, idle oil pressure should be no less than 10 psi, and no less than 50 psi at 3000 rpm. You’re safe.

mine is at 39 psi

I have a mechanical oil pressure gauge. At idle it reads at around 20-25 psi when warm. At 3000rpm it reads approximately 70psi. It usually doesn’t register any higher than 75psi when the engine is warm.

yeah mine reads approximately 24psi (idle) at operating temp. but between 2500- 3000rpm it goes to 82psi then bounces back to 70psi. i dont understand why it does that?

You’re probably seeing the bypass valve opening in the filter. When the filter can’t keep up with the demand for oil flow, the valve will open allowing some unfiltered oil to bypass the filter. May sound scary, but it’s better than the alternative! :bawl: And the idiot light for oil pressure only comes on below 4.8 psi. Me thinks a gauge is a good idea.

does this happen to anyone else, how can u varify that its the oil filter that does that to cause the gauge to read like that. i have a puralator pure one oil filter on it right now.

What setup are you guys using to hook up these guages?? I have an 18" ss line with a cross fitting, which holds, my oil temp, oil press, and stock oil pressure sensor, wondering how you guys set yours up

‘KincaidIntegra’, where did you get the multi-fitting at?

oh you guys are talking about oil. i was talkin about my fuel pressure. my bad, 39 psi is my fuel pressure.
