i am about to lose my liscense for racing, so i get to work on my teg for 6 months-----anyway all i have performance wise is intake and exhaust i was wondering what i should get besides headers to make a pretty good all motor setup?
and what i would need to do to the motor to istall these parts
i already know i need cams and port and polish my head, but what else goes along with that? any suggestions are very welcome thanks
i will keep everyone posted
if you are doing cams you need to get cam gears. they will make a big diff.
any suggestions on what type of cams to get
GUDE cams are the best! go to www.gude.com they got alot of good stuff there. They are haveing a special you get a port and polish, ported intake manifold, ported throttle body, ECU, cams
and a valve grinde for 1400. I think that is a good deal. the only other thing I would get is a set of crower springs and retainers
which will boost your red line to 9000 ( if the bottom end lasts)
Most old farts I talk to always tell me: It’s all in the engine work.
In other words, It doesn’t really matter what header or intake you get, it all depends on how well your head and cams, match your bottom end and tranny. The I/H/E combo will still flow better than stock. So focus on your engine.
Of course a DC header will be better than say, Pacesetter.
Just like on ,cough, muscle cars. A set of block hugger headers don’t flow near as good as a set of true equal length headers. Another thing is how far the primary pipe comes straight out of the head. That’s one reason block huggers suck, but whatever motor they’re being used on to fit in the frame rails more than makes up for that loss!
IMO, Crower or Web cams are the way to go. They both make great springs and retainers. Plus I’d bet they use their own springs to test their own cams so if you stick with one manufacturer for the entire valvetrain, you really can’t go wrong. Yeah I loved the Gude’s that came with my car, but they’re still regrinds. Plus about a year ago the intake cam snapped in half!
I THINK, my formula for deciding on an engine would go like this:
1Forced induction or N/A?
2Compression ratio what gas will I use?
3Head ported in accordance with question #1
4 Talk to the cam company and tell them your combo?
5 Talk to RC Engineering and tell them your combo including cam specs, to get a set of injectors AND a matching throttle body.
K…tink I dun now
