That was all I was saying too. I’m not sure why Xenocron is raging; all I said in my post is that the LS is what I WOULD DO if I went boost, because I would enjoy it more.
Xenocron, All, I’m not saying this is ‘the right way’ to do it; I was just offering an opinion on what I would do if going with boost…
Why not just go with a lightweight flywheel on a LS tranny?? It would rev more similiar to a B16 with a stock flywheel and you would have much longer gears. I dont know, it makes sense to me.
this makes no sense :bs: It still dosn’t compare. I had 250ish whp b16a w/b16a tranny, put 225/50/15 bfg DR’s on it, I didn’t spin second anymore.(no LSD) so Everyones claim to “you wont hook” is complete bullshit. My friend has a stock LS crx w/b16 tranny has ~225whp hooks slighly in second with 205/50/14 555r’s. runs 12’s on those DR’s.(no LSD T3 10-12psi)
What are you talking about dude? I never said anything about them not hooking up. I just would go with a LS tranny with a lightweight flywheel because the gears are much longer which = faster top speed per gear. And if you can get a LS tranny to rev more like a B16 through the flywheel, why would this be a bad thing?? Revs quickly and still has the longer gearing. Sounds good to me.
as I just posted, a lightened flywheel will NOT give the effect of a shorter gear. the engine will only free rev, up and down faster. for easier downshifting. you may gain a few ponys too.
So your saying a light weight flywheel will only make a difference when its not in gear?? Well I drove a EG hatch with a B18B with a 8lb. flywheel and it ran through the gears ALOT faster than it did with the stock flywheel.
I would go with a 94 and up tranny or gear set. The gears are long but not long enough to knock you out of v-tech between shifts as if you were shifting at 8 grand with an LS tranny.
ok well this isnt really on this topic…anyways i was thinking, what if u boosted a teg with a auto tranny…i know it wont be fast or anything…but i was thinking more of like would it last…i heard u could blow it up if u did…dumb question i know.I was just wondering… :run:
Ugh, you have to build your tranny, the stock torque converter cant hold more than 200hp. And will die fast anyways. I got an auto tranny built for about a thousand dollars, and later sold it for 750$ and am now swapping to a mnaual.
If you got a lot of money (2 thousand for tranny alone), there ares ome interesting options out there.
