Keep your ls block and get a b16 head or even a gsr head ftw!!
Youāll beat both b16ās and gsrās. But I love the ls its great I kill my buddies b16 of the line but he gets me with the vtec and his gears. But I noticed a huge diff with my new tires in racing i have nitto neos tread is 230 or sumthin and I they just hook like all hell. Thats why as stated I beat him off the line but he gets me soon after.
Im doin ls/vtec with gsr head turboād .
people keep saying ls, LS is a trim level i know, but i have an RS coupe. Is there that big of a difference between the engines that came in those trims?
The B18A or B18B is just referred to as an LS motor. I guess the LS trim was more common?? The RS, LS, and GS trims all had the same motor. All with B18A or B18B for the 3rd gen.
Properly tuned LSVTEC FTMFW, Iāve had a B16, B18A, B18B, B18C1 in my DA and I love my LSVTECā¦
Well I have to say I love my B16⦠It may be a torqueless wonder
but it still moves and the throttle response is godly. built it for sustained
high RPM use for track days; and Iāve always been an NA whore.

Next up, 12.0:1 compression GSR bottom end and probobly some SLIGHTLY bigger cams (CTR intake)⦠The fact is though, there is replacement for displacement fellas. looking for 220whp. and a fair bit more torque, sooner too.
b16 isnt worth it, i keep up with 00ā si all day and i only have i,h,e and a blox maniā¦with xtd clutch and stock flywheelā¦cant wait to put a b20 in with my jdm s1 trans
are those on a b16? I canāt tell from your post.
A b16 has itās uses, and as my dd it works well. When you drive a b16 the right way it performs. If you drive it like like you would a b18, ya it sucks.
I am pretty sure people who bag on the b16 are either looking for something itās not (torquey), or are simply not driving it right.
I donāt seem to have any issues keeping up with any other stock hondas.
I have left my friends 06 tl 2 cars behind consistantly. Not that the tl is fast or anything. Just an example.
it was in my ls when it ran good, now i might buy a b20 for dd or just boost the spare ls motor thats in my garage but that will take some $ and i also have a b16 head sitting in my room next to my jdm s1 trans, im just confused on which route is the best bang for buckā¦
b16 head ,type r valve train , gsr block ,pistons ,ls rods and crank . hmm slowly building it cant wait to drop it in
This thread is pointless since High Revving b16/18c and such were designed not to be straight line racers and have torque. Japanese automakers like HONDA developed the VTEC system to be more of a economy high performance vehicle and also with circuit style driving in mind since you can rev to 8000RPM+, not the American way of 1/4th mile. Now, if we say whatās better on the circuit a B16A or a B18A, Iām all over a B16 any day than the crappy B18A.
K20A. That is all.
