just put in some crazy 6 puck solid hub clutch in, and now when i punch it, the motor seems like its going to rip out of the car. I guess its from all the wheel hop/skipping that i’m getting or something. what else besides motor mount inserts can i do?
i also hear a clicking noise from the the right passanger side, i just replaced the axle too.
do you mean a MOTOR mount of the drivers side? i dont know what a driver mount is.?. unless your being mounted while driving.hehe and how could that be bad? hahaha…
stock clutches have springs in the hub to absorb the impact of your pressure plate. When you have a solid hub, the clutch transfers the engines power straight to the wheels. And if you have bad motor mounts, the wheels sort of give that energy back to the engine. the act’s are a bitch to drive on the street but you’ll get used to it… don’t be afraid to ride it. hehehe
hello people…
in regards to heavy duty clutches…a six puck design from ACT is very very harsh on the tranny itself as u can tell by the CHATTERING of the tranny…the skipping and hopping is the result of having to much clamping force on your clutch without the proper amount of power…i have a friend with a turbo prelude with a six puck and its bearable with his power level…my other friend with the same car w/o turbo is just crap to drive but u need to get it use to it so that u can get the car running smoothly…if u are experiencing wheel hop on launches their is a sure way to keep this from happening…their called traction bars…a company Z10…makes them for $300+ and are great at keeping ur tires planted to the ground…but our DA’s actually have a weaker version of what Z10 makes stock…u could see the two bars that is attached to the front sub frame from underneath…i put in high density bushings in the stock location and wheel hop is completly gone on most launches…OVERBOOST.com has info on Z10’s traction bars…or sum ppl call then radius arm bars…
yeah, i heard about the z10 bars but dno’t want to pay 300+ for something that i’m not sure it’ll work. also, i was looking for those bushing like from ES or something, you said you put some high density bushings in, what brand are they and where can i get them. thanks
oh yeah, i also put in motor mount inserts to try and help this problem. dam ES sells wrong **** man.
sorry i dont remember the company who made the bushings that i put in…but they are the black ones…i found them on the web…so i will try to locate them…and the traction bars do work and have seen them be put in a 92 civic hatch with a prelude motor…totally eliminated wheel hop on that car and also a rhd del sol with a fully built gsr running 19 psi…unless ur a true racer i think those bars are a lil over kill…but also the clutch that was put in ur car was prob over kill too…my heavy duty performance street disc is more than enough to handle all the bolt-ons…i scratch third with 17’s and paradas…un fortunately the chattering of the tranny wont go away…
hey got PHO, please if you can help me out finding a company with those inserts for the radious bars it would help me out alot. yeah, about the bars, 300 is alot and i think those inserts might be like 2-40 bucks at the most. as for the clutch, yeah, it might be but i was talking to the clutch guy and he recomended it, i had a 6 puck sprung hub before and he said it was about the same. i’m also running a high cr lsvtec with some nos and bolt ons and nitto drag tires. i don’t know, maybe its my driving. but pelase if you can find more info on the inserts that would help.
BTW, i love PHO, i eat it like once every 2 weeks.
damn…i dunno how u found them but yeah those are it…work wonders im telling u ppl…maybe too tight for sum but it also makes turns feel more solid…thanks for finding them i need sum for my other friend…
those do look pretty crazy…i thought you h ad like prothane inserts or something? does this thing really work, does anyone have it, it looks like a bearing inside, and where do the 4 bolts go to?
oh yeah, just bought a pass mount, should put it in pretty soon.
they do work and i was thinking of sumthing else…the bearing is attached to that rod that extends to the lower fork…the bearing helps it pivot while the whole disc is rigid u can feel all the bumps and road condition…sum say its to harsh when they drive my car
