Where exactly is the ignition coil??

as u guys know, my car wouldnt start. I got a separate spark plug and im not getting any spark. I wanna change out the ignition coil cause everyone seems to be having probs with them, but i have no idea where it is at. Also just in case i need to know where the ignitor is at…if you guys could give me a decent picture, that would be great. I already have the pic from the haytes manual, but i can’t make jack squat outta that.

Thanks a lot.

Take off your dist. cap and there is your coil!!! Its a square black piece… cant really miss it.
The ignitor I believe is the little metal “pole” inside your dist. cap that goes into your coil. Please correct me if im wrong.

The ignitor is accually a little rectangular chip that sits on an angle (/) under the ignition coil. HTH.

Oh… check the wires that go into the distributor… we figured that out AFTER he spent over $200 on coil and ignitor.:bored:

damn…i opened up the distributor cap and the frakin coil was charred!! there was a clear hole in it!! what do ya think caused that??

Please run a search next time:
