Who has done their own swap??

I am curious to know who has done their own swap. I am not talking all you professional mechanics, just the regular person with a fair amount of rescources (tools) and a good list of steps to do the swap. Also who has used the Teg Tips to do the swap??

I worked on my swap with a bunch of friends who kinda knew what they were doing. what do you want to know?

Im down to share some knowledge with ya, how can I help?

Im a “regular person” who actually functions very well on pale ale.

I am also proud to admit I changed out my setup with a broken right arm, and no air tools, but I did have someone help steady it as I lowered it in.

I just want to know if you people have like a fair amount of tools like sockets and things, nothing too elaborate like an impact gun or timing light or things like that. Just if you all have a fair amount of rescources and this and that so gimme some input. thanks

Some of the manditory tools for working on any Honda-

Crankshaft pulley holder- Very important!
1/4" or 8mm pin punch (for shift linkage)
Puller for ball joints (pickle fork works but can easily damage the boots)
18" Breaker bar
Assorted prybar set (for popping out the axles)
Yes, a timming light (its not too elaborate, like 20 bucks at the parts store)
Oh yeah, and a torque wrench too

You want to plan ahead on what you might not be able to re-use on the new motor like hoses and belts- so you have no hang ups.

just a note on tools: if u go to www.snapon.com and look at their honda mechanic tool set, it should tell u what kinda tools u need to work on a honda. These are all the tools that are needed to work on a honda so just go and get what u need from the list they have, but most are basic metric tooks. hope that helps.

I did my own swap as well as my frends swap hers a list of what i have done.

My very own car b18a to b16a
Frends 2000EX auto to a b16a3 also converted it to manual tranmision
Frends 1995 auto honda del-sol to a B18c also converted it to stick
and my other frends del-sol with a b16 also i also put ITR suspnsion on that

i’ve done alot of wor n hondas so u can ask e if u have any questions

You don’t need any fancy or expensive tools. all that other stuff helps and speeds up the process, but you can get creative and get by with just a good socket set, some screwdrivers, and a sledge hammer.

I have a small Craftsman toolbox (the type you carry) and I have done several different swaps using just the tools in this little box.

What are exactly do you need to know?? What tools you need???

It’s not that difficult to change motors. You just need to plan your attack and make sure you have every part you will need before hand.
