When you do any type of work that requires you to remove the timing belt from your cam gears and you let it go, will the timing belt drop down and loose its place on the crank? When I replaced my head gasket, I used a hanger to keep upward tension on the belt, but I’ve seen pictures where people just let it dangle.
If I remember correctly with the lower cover still on the motor there’s not enough room for the belt to jump. Even if it did wouldn’t ya be able to just use the timing marks on the pulley and realign the marks on the cams?
Damn, wouldn’t that be just like installing a timing belt without the hassle of the crank bolt? That’s probably what I would have to do, but what a pain in the ass.
I let mine hang…just line it up with the TDC mark on the crank, and on your cam gears.
